So I need to find a holiday for 3/4 nights early -mid march. Preferably breakfast included, budget about £1000-£1200. Can fly from Midlands or Manchester. Where would you go?
Excluding krakow/greece

What about Seville? Would be lovely to visit when the weather isn’t scorching.

I would also consider Venice, Florence and Rome, as it will be low season.

Malaga.

Depends what you want? Are you looking for a city break or a lying in the sun type holiday?

Happy with a city break, but wouldn't mind a lying in the sun type holiday as long as there was something to explore for 1 or 2 days

Madeira?
Malta?
They'd both have that mix of relaxation on beach and things to do.

Or cities with good beaches: Barcelona has a great beach, walkable from city centre. Or Lisbon. Beaches near city centre and a day trip to Sintra's crazy castles is great fun.

Rome
Lisbon

Just to add that the weather may not be great in March. We went to Andalusia last March and were unlucky to experience the most rain they’ve had in 70 years 😅

If you’d like time on the beach, the Canary Islands may be a safer bet, though maybe too far for a short break?

Potofbegonias · 09/02/2026 17:19

Venice. Definitely Venice.

CosyPinkZebra · 09/02/2026 17:21

Lisbon would be a great option!

Bologna. Is a compact city and has great food, an ancient university and fabulous architecture. From Bologna there’s a train service to Ravenna where you can see the 1000 year old mosaic church walls and ceilings. There’s also the Ferarri museum at Modena (and vinegar!) and Ferrara and Parma (for the ham) are also worthwhile. So much to see and do.

Lanzarote, Playa Blanca for the best weather.

When you’re not lying in the Sun, hire a car or go on a coach tour to see the volcano park, vineyards or all the Cesar Manrique houses, cactus gardens and caves etc.

I've been a few times and still not run out of cultural stuff to do.

Vienna. We went last year and it was wonderful

Malaga for sun culture, food, beaches, history, shopping …

WellWoman · 10/02/2026 14:06

Puglia - one of the towns near the coast, it’s fairly warm in March. Food not too expensive in the region - it’s nice to feel like you’re not constrained by your budget on a break!

FormerlySpeckledyHen · 12/02/2026 06:28

@Eggybreadwithnuts I don’t know, I’ve never been to there.
Google will help you.
