Those of you with teens, what are your summer holiday plans this year? We don’t have anything booked yet and it’s making me anxious!

Land of Legends in Turkey (young teen). PlayStations in rooms and onsite milkshake bar.

The last two years we have based holidays around theme parks. 2024 Portaventura in Salou, 2025 Europa land near the town called Rust. Both were great successes, at portaventura we stayed at one of the theme park hotels half board, and you can eat any the restaurants in the park, and the rides open till 11. It meant they were all quite happy to stay at the park and not bothered about going to pubs/clubs. The theme park queues were murder though. Europa land we stayed at an apartment in Rust, the theme park is better in general and the queues are much smaller. We ate out every night though which although isn’t ridiculously expensive, paying for 4 adults, and every round on drinks left me a bit skint. I did make them walk to the Lidl for breakfast stuff, we went to the park 3 days and the waterpark 1 day. They loved it. My wallet not so much. The food was good, even in the parks the quality was excellent.

This year they are 19&20 though so we are abandoning them at home!

Owlmoonstar · 18/01/2026 17:58

Egypt.

MonicaBingGeller · 18/01/2026 18:08

Egypt in summer @Owlmoonstar - I’ve always been interested in the diving/snorkelling but won’t it be insanely hot?

Thanks for your replies! Sadly we are not theme park fans and I definitely want my teens away from screens for the holidays - they are chronically online when home so nice to have a break from it!

I shall soon find out 🤣 wish me luck!

New York for 10 days and can't wait. Our teenagers no longer enjoy just staying jn a hotel (even with added day trips). We went to Florida last year and they had such a great time.

MonicaBingGeller · 18/01/2026 19:41

@Robina3000 we went to New York last year and our teens are still talking about it. Amazing holiday.

So interested in this! Have a cheapy AI for Easter with teen clubs and just did classic TUI so there's clubs and classes and GYM! For the summer we are circling around Ibiza, Thailand, Maldives and America. We wanted World Cup but ticket prices and school timings wrote it off. What do you do in New York? America is top of the list from teen perspective, but they don't want Disneyland or Universal or beach!! I'm like. I'm not spending thousands to take you for a McDonald's!!

Isadora2007 · 18/01/2026 19:52

Ummm a remote Scottish island with extended family!! Maybe not quite what other teens would enjoy… lol

NorthFaceofthelaundrypile · 18/01/2026 19:53

Probably diving in Thailand

drspouse · 18/01/2026 19:54

We are thinking about a lake - maybe Annecy.

CapybarasAreJustGuineaBigs · 18/01/2026 19:55

Snowdonia for 10 days. Static caravan, but not on a park, just in a farmers field right on the coast.

SecretBeans · 18/01/2026 19:56

Just a villa in Majorca. We did that two years ago and it was lovely, we all got in to chess, playing card games, in the pool, walking out to eat. The one we have booked this year has big grounds for football and bikes you can ride into town. Eldest will be 14.5 as opposed to 12.5 though so I hope it’s still a hit.
We are also having a week in Denmark for Lalandia, Legoland and Copenhagen.

Forest of Dean was a huge hit last year and Disney Florida, one of our best holidays ever. The kids also love Slovenia.

Scared0112 · 18/01/2026 19:57

Those who did NY pls share your itinerary

BananagramBadger · 18/01/2026 20:03

Ours is an only child so we tend to go away with friends. Usually it’s all inclusive with sports but this time it’s a villa in Spain. Not too sure how it’ll go. Anything with activities is usually the best, he loves watersports but we’ve tried riding etc. Next I think a place with a water park would be good.

coffeeagogo · 18/01/2026 20:11

To the Alps for cannoning, white water rafting, via Ferrata, luges and some hiking and then another week surfing in Cornwall later in the summer. My DDs are 15 and 16 and this is what they asked us to do this year.

Am805463 · 18/01/2026 20:12

We’re going to Montenegro and driving around there this summer. My boy’s favourite holiday is Florida but we’re trying something different.

I would do Sri Lanka including blue whale watching and a safari at yala

minipie · 18/01/2026 20:55

Deciding between an Alpine activity holiday or a Greece sailing and watersports holiday. I have one 13 and one 11 and they want physical activity, especially the younger one.

On my list for future summers when they can put up with a bit more sightseeing:

Malaysia
Sri Lanka & Maldives
Lombok & Komodo

Safari when budget allows! And California but that will need to await the end of Trump

AugustandEverythingAfter · 18/01/2026 20:56

We went to New York with teens in October half term and it was brilliant! We did all the major sights like Central Park, boat to Statue of Liberty, The Edge, walked the high line. We also watched a band in Brooklyn one evening. We walked for miles but the subway was easy to use too.

We also did a Californian road trip the summer before and had a wonderful time. The kids talk about it all the time.

I think we are going to book a Greek resort this year for a more relaxing break but need to combine this with some activities for teens.

drspouse · 18/01/2026 21:55

@minipie Lombok has excellent snorkeling and you can hike up the mountain/walk to waterfalls so it's not all sightseeing.

Stompythedinosaur · 19/01/2026 13:59

We're doing a safari in Botswana!

We had a really good holiday in Japan as our last big trip, so I'd recommend there as well.
