Have I paid too much?

In a nutshell I fly to lanzarote this Monday with my DH and 2 children. We are doing 5 nights in a complex and it's cost just under 4.5k. Does this seem extortionate? Or the norm these days? It's also completely self catering. I can't help but feel it's a waste of money and I could have got somewhere nicer/better? What have u all booked abroad these summer holidays?

We go to Lanzarote, Puerto Del Carmen on Monday too, fly from Leeds Bradford, self catering for me OH and kids 17 &15, £4.8k

To answer your ‘question’ though OP, I could pay 4.5k as your friend you have and enjoy my time and have a lovely holiday and wouldn’t consider myself ‘ripped off’ or I could spend 500 quid on a caravan in Devon, which I would hate and thus feel ripped off. So, the thing is, it’s a stupid question because we all have preferences and different budgets.

Depends on nice the accommodation is tbh. Not what I’d pay personally but we just do eurocamp around Europe each year.

Well I wouldn't fly to Lanzarote for five nights because you lose a day at each end. Cost wise it depends, high end villa or cramped apartment with people sleeping on sofas?

It is us going on holiday, my oldest is not coming she's with my in laws. We also inherited some money which would be on my post history too. Thank u for everyone who replied, it's too late now anyway so it is what it is!

I had a look the other night and packages to the Canaries and Spanish costas are not the cheap and cheerful bargains they once were. The run down accommodation hasn't changed much but the prices are sky high. I really hope you've booked one of the fancier refurbished ones and aren't about to spend 5 days in a room with green wooden furniture and some 1980's cushion covers that smell a bit like stale cheese.....maybe a trail of ants thrown in for free.

I know but because it's summer holidays and we weren't paying for my oldest I booked it last minute but I think I could have got a better deal.

It does look lovely so i hope it's worth it! Lesson learnt
