Copenhagen Hotel Recommendations

We're going to Copenhagen at the end of August for a wedding. For the dates we're going hotels are £££ (300ish a night minimum). If I'm going to pay a lot of money, I'd prefer to pay say £400 for an extra special stay rather than £300 for a bog standard chain hotel. So looking for recommendations.

Not too fussed about exact location, as long as it's actually in Copenhagen and not Malmo like half the hotels that come up on booking sites!

adina aparthotel. Very nice and about 10 mins by reliable clean train from centre. Even has a pool!

FickleOcelot · 10/07/2025 17:17

Thanks @babasaclover but no availability

I'm not sure if there's something going on that weekend but lots of places are sold out or far more expensive than i would expect.

Oh that’s such a shame! Hope you find somewhere else soon it is a very dear place to go but also very lovely.

have you tried air B&B?

babasaclover · 10/07/2025 17:55

Or you can get water taxis everywhere cheaply like small boats you just hop on and off off so maybe expand the area that they cover?

GoBackToPartyCity · 10/07/2025 17:57

We stayed at Hotel Kong Arthur…I’d definitely recommend! Hopefully it’s in your budget.

Any of the Guldsmeden ones, we've stayed at Axel Guldsmeden twice and loved it

I’ve stayed at the Scandic Kodbyen in the meat packing district, it was very cool and they ran with the theme (even carpet was meat patterned!) and the breakfast was the best I’ve ever eaten!

Decorhate · 10/07/2025 18:14

We stayed in Hotel Bethel. Very good location but rooms are a bit basic.

Locals did tell us that July/August is very busy (we went in Jan!)

Cyclingforcake · 10/07/2025 18:25

We like SP34. We’ve stayed in the hotel and the apartment bits. Very central and small and a little bit different. Best bakery in Copenhagen is just down the street.

Cyclingforcake · 10/07/2025 18:26

I’ve never got water taxis but the metro is excellent and runs late. And also hiring bikes is virtually compulsory!

Have you looked at airport hotels? Excellent tram service straight from the airport to the city centre

FickleOcelot · 10/07/2025 19:18

Even the airport hotels are £££

It must be something about that weekend as other weekends in July and August are nowhere near that expensive.

Tbh, I'm half tempted to just drive in for the wedding (we have friends about an hour away) and skip staying in Copenhagen at all as it looks like it's going to cost minimum 700 for two nights.

I've booked a refundable room at Copenhagen Island whilst I consider options.

Edited

I second this. We loved it.

I stayed at the least expensive central hotel I could find: Wakeup Copenhagen - Borgergade. Basic but clean, comfortable and really good location. I’d much rather spend money on dinners and cocktails rather than a room to sleep in.

rooftop pool, stunning bar upon entry, city centre

This. It's fabulous. I swam in the outdoor pool in November and it was hotter than a bath.

Same. I think we went in January.

Ilovelowry · 10/07/2025 21:29

@alcoholnightmare my favourite thing though was the carrot cocktail in the bar.

Agree!

Hotel Andersen is very central, close to metro, station, Tivoli, has a lovely bar/lobby with honesty bar if you get any downtime there, rooms are fairly basic but clean & comfy.

GreenLemonade · 11/07/2025 23:05

We stayed at hotel Admiral, perfect location and beautiful rooms in a converted warehouse.

I stayed at Axel Guldsmeden years ago and absolutely loved it. Really memorable.

What about an airbnb? Better value and more space and there are such gorgeous apartments in Copenhagen.
