Holidays with plentiful toilets?

Can you suggest somewhere warm (not hot) for a holiday in October or November and that has plenty of public toilets?

I haven't been abroad for many years so have no idea.
The UK is very poor in toilet provision these days and don't want the same thing on holiday.

It’s probably not people’s first consideration so you may get limited response . If it’s due to disability maybe ask on the board .

Fhjiutwafhmbcff · 03/06/2025 10:59

Not an actual disability, no. Thanks for your reply.

In Europe it is more common to be able to pop into a cafe and use the facilities. Alternatively, I buy an espresso and use the loo, usually twice. Most public toilets are situated at he entrance to tourist spots - museums, castles etc. I can’t think of any country that has lots of public toilets.

Everywhere I’ve been in the last few years you have to pay if you can find toilets at all (Spain, Netherlands, Italy, Belgium, France). I think France had free public toilets by beaches. Just been to Belgium for the weekend and even in a shopping mall you had to pay but they did have card readers. I guess that’s why cafes are so popular? Everyone ties in their wee with their coffee break.

Disney World in Florida has toilets everywhere. Probably not helpful!

Yatuway · 03/06/2025 12:10

What sort of holiday do you want?

Everywhere I've been for a beach holiday, the busier beaches all have public toilet facilities. It's practicality if nothing else, they know people will crap on the beach otherwise. But that's no good to you if you're looking for a city break.

Bjorkdidit · 03/06/2025 13:26

Like a PP says, museums often have toilets near the entrance that can be used even if you don't go in the museum. We've done that in Malta, Menorca, Spain and Iceland. Supermarkets and McDonald's are often also a good shout.

We do go when in cafes etc but that's often counter productive and gets expensive if you're buying drinks every couple of hours when out and about.

MaximusPaddimous · 03/06/2025 13:30

The Costa del sol resorts usually have toilets on the beach at regular intervals.

minnienono · 03/06/2025 13:31

Never had an issue finding one to use but they are usually in places as people here are saying. Quality of public ones if available are really variable, even found a hole in the ground in France about 10 years back admittedly but thought they had long gone. Take your own paper too as hot or miss

Radiatorvalves · 03/06/2025 13:38

Not had any issues in Europe finding loos. Spend a lot of time in France and while not perfect, you can usually find one. Was in Italy recently and I’d avoid the stadium during match time (MASSIVE QUEUE) but otherwise good.

whirlyhead · 03/06/2025 13:40

I live in Mallorca and cheerfully waltz into hotels to use their toilets! There are some public ones but not many, and they usually charge for them. I can't think of many places I've been that have a lot of public toilets that I'd actually want to use...

Loughrigg77 · 03/06/2025 15:24

Probably not what you're looking for, but Tokyo is very well supplied with public loos

Fhjiutwafhmbcff · 03/06/2025 18:56

Thanks for all the comments.
I was wanting somewhere relaxing, whether near a beach or not.

You probably need to give a bit more direction than ‘not hot, with toilets’

How long are you going for?
How far are you willing to travel?
city or beach?
who is going?
what will you do when there?

A remote all inclusive in Tenerife fits your description but that’s not my kind of holiday! If you give more details, you’ll get more helpful responses.

Japan has the best public toilet provision of anywhere I’ve ever been. There really are public toilets everywhere and they are generally very clean and well designed.

It’s warm in October.

No idea if you’re looking at long-haul though.

It's true, you can usually get away with using the loos in hotels if you walk in confidently and look like you know where you're going. I've done this loads of times when nothing else is available.

Going abroad I wanted to find places with accessible toilets and used this app, which also includes ordinary toilets and reviews. I think there are many other apps too, possibly even Google maps? (I used quite a lot of loos in museums and churches)

On a holiday in France about 10 years ago we ended up taking our own toilet roll and soap (we were camping so set up for that anyway) as majority of toilets we encountered had neither!

margegunderson · 03/06/2025 19:08

Japan. Spankingly clean and free all over the place

user1476613140 · 03/06/2025 19:08

Japan is where you really want to head to. They love their toilets!

Get the "Flush" app. It shows where toilets are in your vicinity.

Pringlebeak · 03/06/2025 19:16

Las Vegas has them everywhere.

Wowzel · 03/06/2025 19:20

Dubai had loads of very clean public toilets, especially in hotels and shopping centres

UsernameNotAvailable2025 · 03/06/2025 19:27

Japan was amazing for toilets. They are literally everywhere. Every shop, bus and train station, public park of any size, shrines, temples etc etc. And it would be warm then.

Likewise the US national parks were very well served with composting toilets, and service stations were often much more frequent than in the uk, despite the scale of the country.
