Can we get food when we land at Schiphol Airport?

We’re flying into Schiphol Airport in July - does anyone know whether we’ll be able to get food when we land, before we head on? Does the arrivals area have somewhere?

Doesn’t matter what it is - a McDonald’s would be ideal as the kids can be picky, especially in a new place, so getting them something they’ll recognise would be handy!

Would also appreciate any recommendations for tacos from the airport - it looks like our accommodation is about 15 minutes away by car.

You're landing into the busiest airport hub in Europe, yes there will be food places.

Orangebadger · 01/06/2025 21:22

Lots of food places.

Why don’t you have a look at their website? Loads of info on there.

Fannyy · 01/06/2025 21:24

No. It's the only large airport in the world with no food. 🧐

https://www.schiphol.nl/en/at-schiphol/eat-and-drink/facilities/?location=Landside
20 bars & restaurants land side. Google can be very helpful.
There will be a taxi rank as there is at all airports.
There is also a train station.

Ecrire · 01/06/2025 21:25

erm are you serious? Are you asking if a busy European airport has places to get food?

lljkk · 01/06/2025 21:28

Tacos? I am picturing this.

No, as a result of Brexit there is no food at all at any airport in the Schengen Area, however at Schiphol Airport, there is unlimited undiluted Adovocat or a 'Snowball'.
Veel Geluk!

Arrivals and departures are in one terminal, so you go past a load of places before you have even done passport control and got your luggage. That fascinated me, as I haven't been to an airport like that before.

I did, but I couldn’t find anything that specifically said which places were in Arrivals. I’m used to small airports where there’s only a vending machine once you land, which is why I wasn’t sure whether food in arrivals is even a thing!

When you exit the airport, follow the signs into station and there is a Mc Donald’s there among others. The one in the terminal is always slow and rammed one

BaronessBomburst · 01/06/2025 22:00

There is a noodle bar!
What time are you landing and where is your accommodation?
There's at least one MNer who lives in Amsterdam, and I've been a few times so might be able to help.
I've never used the taxis though.

PurpleWillow · 01/06/2025 22:20

The train station has a bunch of fast food options. And a supermarket. It's really close to arrivals and departures and doesn't have the 'stuck in an airport' upcharge anymore. Can't say I remember anything about taco's though.

Thank you! We arrive at about midday. Our accommodation is about a 15 minute drive away, but we can’t check in until 4pm, so it makes more sense to get food in the airport and kill some time as well.

Oh, I hadn’t thought of there being a supermarket, that would be really handy! We could do some shopping for the first few days there in that case, and then get a taxi to the accommodation.

Have you ever seen a busy international airport??

cherrycola66 · 01/06/2025 23:10

Yea there are lots of places, also when in Amsterdam I used uber

peepsypops · 01/06/2025 23:21

So many! You will have plenty of options. Straight out of arrivals you will see an Albert Hein supermarket and a bigger version of the same on the other side of the arrivals hall. There used to be a Leon, Burger King, lots and lots. I haven’t been since 2020 but it’s similar to a big English train station like Waterloo so many options. Not sure why people have to be rude on here. Good luck.

Schipol is quite nice and modern/flash. You will find it very easy. Tonnes of food and taxis.

Mumblechum0 · 01/06/2025 23:26

Schipol also has (or had), a casino.

once missed a connecting flight because I was on a winning streak 😂

This. I used to go through there for connecting flights and didn't mind if I had a couple of hours to kill as I could browse the shops and get something decent to eat and drink.
