EasyJet 15kg bag cost 😢

I’ve just booked a holiday to Sorrento through Love Holidays, flying with EasyJet. Included in the price was only a cabin bag - it didn’t specify dimensions. Now I have order confirmation through I can see that it is only a handbag that is included so I went to add a 15kg bag - Martin Lewis says this is from £6.99 - and found that it is an extra £38.24 EACH WAY 😭. Nearly £80 each for my partner and I!

is there any way I can get this cheaper? Can’t believe it.

It's a holiday, not a medical procedure.

My knickers are not heavy by the way.

AlphaApple · 19/05/2025 15:23

Knickers? On holiday? You're mad. Go commando and save 2 grammes of luggage weight.

Fair enough. The OP was desperate to save money.
Rinsing and hanging out clothes takes seconds.
Otherwise yes, pay a fortune for extra baggage on a budget airline and take a suitcase the size of a wardrobe.

I'd just take a roll of bin bags. You could fashion one into a summer outfit every morning and then use the space saved at the end to bring back a bottle of limoncello from duty free.

Take less stuff. Decant toiletries into small bottles.

Take half the clothes you think you need and rinse out if you have to.

Knickers can be surprisingly heavy. Look at travel varieties or even paper ones.

Wear one pair of sturdy shoes on the plane and pack another fancy pair if you must.

Wear thicker heavier clothes on the flight.

Ewe paper knicker - Lord now we are scrapping the bottom of the barrel here😱😲

Surely one checked bag is enough though if you originally planned to add just a cabin bag each?
A cabin case is usually max 7-10kg depending on airline and bag size allowed. So a checked 20kg will be more.

Take packing cubes in it so you can pack half each.

I can’t say I have ever packed a towel? Just use the ones there.

@Wexone Could not agree more! After giving birth only in this house! Otherwise ugh!

I went away for a week with my 2 children (one adult, one child) and we had 2 bags 15kg each. At least one whole bag was the little one’s stuff. Could easily manage 15kg for a week for 2 people if you don’t need to take beach towels.

If you don’t travel light easily then just get a 23kg bag and share it?

Fupoffyagrasshole · 19/05/2025 16:04

15kg for both is fine surely! I can't understand the drama of this ! how much clothes do you need for a week! you can get shampoo and sun cream and stuff over there

bring very basic make up!

You could do some laundry if you need to half way through the trip!

but really if you want bags and you fly budget airline you should know to book at the time of booking and factor the cost in.

i managed with 15kg for me, a baby & a toddler to spain last year!

I guess there is the context here that the OP is planning a trip with a relatively new partner so she is wanting to dress up for evenings out and make up/hair styling to look her best. Anyone travelling with a young family is probably prioritising the children enjoying themselves and if they spend the week in the same leggings chances are no-one will notice. Also if it’s a new romance then paper knickers probably aren’t the look she’s hoping for !!
