Two Economy Holidays vs One Business Class Holiday

If you were me, mid 20s, not super well travelled, but very tall for a woman, would you do?

A) Two economy return long haul flights and cheaper hotels; or
B) One business class long haul return and 4/5* hotels

Effectively the choice is one very comfortable holiday vs two cheaper trips.

Two trips would win for me every time, get out there and see the world!

MiddleAgedDread · 29/04/2025 07:52

A

BlondiePortz · 29/04/2025 07:53

A no hesitation at all

Antsinmypantsneedtodance · 29/04/2025 07:53

2 chepa holidays and prebook extra legroom seats in economy

Peekingovertheparapet · 29/04/2025 07:54

I would think you could do economy flights and nice accommodation and do two trips.

user2848502016 · 29/04/2025 07:55

Two trips definitely! If you can go for extra leg room in economy or premium economy. But definitely would suffer a few hours on an economy flight if it meant I got two holidays instead of one!

DisplayPurposesOnly · 29/04/2025 07:55

Why is it cheap flight + cheap hotel or expensive flight + expensive hotel?

You can mix and match - cheap one + expensive the other.

Ellmau · 29/04/2025 07:56

How long are the holidays and where to?

Overthebow · 29/04/2025 07:57

Two holidays definitely

ICantPretend · 29/04/2025 07:57

How long are you going for and how long is the flight?

Eg nine hour flight, 7 day holiday each time.

Option A is 7*12 hours of holiday (84 hours), times two = 168 hours.

Option B, add the flights in to the holiday time as there'll be enjoyable, 7*12=84, plus 9= 93 hours.

Even if you subtract a day from each of the holidays for option A for recovery from an awful flight/losing time through tiredness from not being able to rest, it's still 144 hours Vs 93 hours, so 50% more.

hopeishere · 29/04/2025 07:57

Depends on how tired I was and how much I felt I needed a five star break.

turkeyboots · 29/04/2025 07:58

Business class is only worth it for a long flight. Under 5hrs, just pay for extra legs room. But go for the nicest hotel you can afford, it's always worth staying somewhere lovely.

ICantPretend · 29/04/2025 07:58

Oh, I missed the cheaper hotels Vs expensive hotels, but find some way of quantifying that too!

JWR · 29/04/2025 08:01

Definitely 2 x economy. If you’re really bothered about legroom premium economy can be excellent. I’d definitely not pay BA business class over premium economy from my own pocket, for example

Radiatorvalves · 29/04/2025 08:02

Two trip (and I’m a lot older). Recently went economy to Vietnam for 3 weeks and had an amazing time. Hotels weren’t memorable but were clean with aircon and en suites. The street food was amazing and I think I had a much more interesting time than a friend who only ever travels 5* (he’s got the budget for it!)

HelloMyNameIsElderSmurf · 29/04/2025 08:04

A. I go economy to Australia!

BigDahliaFan · 29/04/2025 08:06

Do the cheaper flights while you are young! I’m 56 now and find long haul economy and cheaper hotels off putting…but don’t regret all the economy long haul and cheaper hotels. When I was younger.

uts hard to go back to economy and cheaper hotels….

User46576 · 29/04/2025 08:09

I’m quite tall for a woman and would definitely go for two cheap trips. And I’m almost 50

Westun · 29/04/2025 08:12

Do the two trips, but if you can afford it pay for seats with extra leg room.

Overthebow · 29/04/2025 08:13

Also do they both have to be long haul? Could you do one luxury trip with economy flights but 5 star hotel, then a cheap short haul week?

princesspadam · 29/04/2025 08:14

Deffo A
just book an extra legroom seat in economy (approx £60-80)

SummerIce · 29/04/2025 08:16

When I was in my 20s, definitely A.

Now in mid 30s and I value a good relaxing and luxury experience as being part of a holiday, so I go for B.

Bumbers · 29/04/2025 08:30

A!

Energe · 29/04/2025 08:36

2 with extra leg room flight seats

JustLikeThatBluebird · 29/04/2025 12:35

Assuming it's a long haul flight then B. I have chronic health conditions and business class flights make an enormous difference to my comfort. I used to lose the first day, sometimes two days of my holiday due to pain and fatigue, but flying business means I can start my holiday from day 1.
