Hi I’m just wondering if any one has had an experience with this my sons unfortunately had an accident and at the moment can’t go on our family holiday so I’ve taken my self and him off while the rest of the family go I’m just curious if any one has just paid for flights and been able to add them back on with the hotel instead of through the travel agents since we already have the rooms and paid for them hope this makes sense
thanks

Maybe I’m being thick but I don’t understand

Attictroll · 28/04/2025 08:09

Have you contacted your travel insurance? I don’t totally understand what your asking but if my son had an accident and couldn’t travel I would first try and rearrange but if rest of family had to go and we couldn’t I’d claim through insurance

Chelseahorbs · 28/04/2025 08:10

So if I could just go through the hotel to add him back to the room instead of going to the travel agents we went through I still feel like I’m not making sense

Do you think you can go in a day or two? Are you asking if you can still do that, without paying for the hotel room again? Otherwise I have no idea what you are asking…

slamdunk66 · 28/04/2025 08:11

I’m not sure I understand either. Do you mean if your son is well enough by the time the holiday comes round can you just book flights?

Chelseahorbs · 28/04/2025 08:12

Yes that’s what I mean could I just book the flights since we already have the rooms

Yes that’s what I mean and just put his name on the booking again with the hotel

It’s just approaching the end of April - if you think he might be able to make it, would you not have just kept the original booking?

Near on 3 months away? Is this an illness or a fracture kind of accident?

Have you got travel insurance?

No travel insurance but you’ve got money back from travel agent… for what? The flights? The holiday?

His part of the full holiday

This thread makes no sense at all sorry!

you’re not going until july but have cancelled your son’s holiday?

You really need to buy insurance as soon as the holiday is booked.

Thatfirstcoffee · 28/04/2025 08:36

Chelseahorbs · 28/04/2025 08:31

His part of the full holiday

And a parent too presumably?

you have already cancelled despite not having the consultant app yet?

Needlesnah · 28/04/2025 08:39

Just contact the hotel and book a room for him. Or contact your travel agent and say your son has improved beyond expectations and can they re book for him.

We’ve already spoke to his consultant after his surgery this is a follow up from that yes because it’s his leg they have said he needs at least a month of physio which will take us to 2 ish days before we go that’s why I’ve cancelled it incase his recovery takes longer than what they have said

OP posts:
Muchtoomuchtodo · 28/04/2025 08:42

Physio could be once a week appointments (or even longer, perhaps fortnightly) with exercises to work on independently inbetween appointments. Why cancel a holiday for that?

clarrylove · 28/04/2025 08:42

Agree this thread makes no sense at all. But if you have cancelled his/your holiday and had a refund, then your room will have been released. You have no booking.

I’d say you cancelled too soon

Either way op, I think you need to see the consultant and get some clarity.

and then maybe give some thought as to how you convey the situation if you do contact the hotel to be clear as possible!

Thank you we’ve already got the rooms still I just wanted to know if I could add him back on through the hotel instead
