Looking for inspiration - going away for wedding anniversary, 2 nights in Europe early April and for some reason I'm stuck for ideas!

BIWI · 01/03/2025 16:35

What kind of things are you interested in/do you like to do when you're on holiday?

BigDahliaFan · 01/03/2025 16:35

Malaga, loads of flights, short airport transfer. Great food.

Berlin, easy transfer, great museums.

Copenhagen, easy airport transfer.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 01/03/2025 16:35

Lisbon or Budapest.

KitKat1985 · 01/03/2025 16:36

Brugge. Very pretty and short travel time to get there.

femininomenon · 01/03/2025 16:36

For two nights I'd do Porto as it's not too far and not too big.

SouthernTip · 01/03/2025 16:37

Den Hague, fantastic city with a very short flight.

MissyB1 · 01/03/2025 16:38

Literally just booked a long weekend in Ghent Belgium, looking forward to it.

ExitPursuedByABare · 01/03/2025 16:39

I’m off to Budapest.

Done
Paris
Rome
Venice
Barcelona

mitogoshigg · 01/03/2025 16:42

Somewhere you can fly from your nearest and ideally smaller airport, for 2 nights you want to minimise pre airport travel plus waiting time! I would opt for somewhere no further than Spain or Central Europe

wejammin · 01/03/2025 16:44

We did a weekend in Milan, it was fab

CapabilityBrownsHaHa · 01/03/2025 16:44

Riga, in Latvia. Short flight, a bit different, lots to see / explore, cheap when there.

Biscuitsnotcookies · 01/03/2025 16:45

Paris by train, lovely in spring.
Switzerland in the mountains

Biscuitsnotcookies · 01/03/2025 16:46

Florence is my favourite
Venice ditto

Millymoonshine · 01/03/2025 16:47

Bordeaux is a beautiful city. Good bus, tram and train services.

Simonjt · 01/03/2025 16:47

Whats your budget, some are very expensive!

Clearinguptheclutter · 01/03/2025 16:48

Porto or Krakow

however when we did very similar we ended up looking at where we could go from (and come back to) our airport at reasonable times. That narrowed down the field a lot. We ended up in Nuremberg, Germany. Which was actually lovely.

CatDogGuineaPig · 01/03/2025 16:48

Yes more details would have been good! Love historical/ beautiful sights, good food and if possible some warmth although I think I might have more options if I didn't always head for the sun! Always drawn to Italy and Spain so maybe looking for a change. Would like a boutique hotel. We are in between Heathrow and gatwick so good access to flights.

Malaga!

Yellowink · 01/03/2025 16:49

Any thoughts on Madrid?

TippingTree · 01/03/2025 16:50

Lisbon or Porto. Short flight, both relatively compact and we‘ve been to both in March and had sunshine.

LadyGAgain · 01/03/2025 16:52

Venice!

MrsSkylerWhite · 01/03/2025 16:53

One weekend, Amsterdam, day trip to Bruges from there.

rookiemere · 01/03/2025 16:56

Anywhere is good really, hardly ever been on a city break to somewhere I didn't like although I wouldn't rush back to Milan.

I would check timings on sky scanner and find somewhere with morning flights out and evening flights back to maximise your time there.
