For Summer 2025 please - Thankyou.
Watersports, seafront, the usual. Similar to Sani/Ikos.

2 adults & a tween.

Budget £6k-ish.

Willing to compromise the length of stay for the quality 😊 Thanks!

Alternatively why not go to Sri Lanka, flights will eat half your budget but you can get a lovely hotel (or choose 2 different centres). We book b&b then go out for dinners or just pay as we go in the hotel. The hotels are not quite the same as the ultra ai type instead they have more charm and crucially you can afford it. Eg the place i stayed at for 4 nights worked out at £1100 for 7 nights in school summer holidays, sharing one room, b&b giving you a generous budget for meals, taxis (Uber is widespread) tours (recommend the river safari from experience and the elephant sanctuary was good too) etc. you can probably do 10 nights on your budget without compromising

That's one of the more expensive room types though.

This time I've gone for a side sea view (thought my sea view room at Aria was pretty crap last time) and I'm paying £4,500 for 6 nights in early August for 3 adults.

Please tell me your secrets. The cheapest Ikos I could find for 6 nights in summer hols was £5500 without flights.

Chronic pain, very slow and poor mobility, riddled with muscular skeletal issues and Fibromyalgia that mean I struggle with even wearing clothes as it hurts my skin.

I’m sorry, that sounds very difficult to cope with. Might be worth considering though somewhere very close to the beach and restaurants as some of the AI complexes can involve longer journeys between accommodation and restaurants than a short trip outside a complex could?

summer555 · 17/11/2024 10:33

Please tell me your secrets. The cheapest Ikos I could find for 6 nights in summer hols was £5500 without flights.

I booked it under the early booking offer they had a few weeks ago. Had a 10% repeater's discount and a further 10% (I hadn't asked for this but they gave it to me at the end of my last stay). Came to around €5,500 which is £4,500 as the exchange rate is good at the moment.

The prices by resort vary a lot - Aria was one of the cheapest and the side sea views aren't as expensive. It doesn't include flights (I have a BA companion voucher so booked those with airmiles).

But in fairness I guess that's in line with your quote without the extra 10% discount.

Rixos premium Antalya in Turkey. £3.5k for a week in October for 1 adult and 1 teen in a shared room. Loved it. Would definitely go back. Roller skating waiters as its all so big. Beautiful beach, huge pools, 4 a la carte restaurants to go to once per week. Godiva chocolate cafe. Evening entertainment for 1 hour and then live bands in the beach bar but the sound didn't carry back to the main hotel.

What are the sports/activities like at Rixos premium Belek would you say please? It looks amazing. I am lazy and will happily swim and read books, occasional gym session but kids and husband want to DO stuff all the time. Are there excursions? I loved Turkey when we went (but was more my family mode trip hot air balloons, cave tours , every Istanbul sight and market to haggle and overnight trains etc.) and an all inclusive there appeals.

Could you go in April? Mexico is lovely then and you can get AI resorts that have 5-6 a la carte restaurants. You can probably stretch to 10 nights and there are direct flights from Gatwick to Cancun. Don’t know if Gatwick is too far for you.

edit: just checked, you can do 12 nights on the Mayan coast for 6k. Resorts there are beautiful with big rooms.

Edited

Can’t get annual leave for April 🙁 but thankyou. Would happily re-visit Mexico though!

Oooh, Sri Lanka was always on my bucketlist - great reminder - thanks! Will look now.

’D’H has rejected the whole of Turkey as he reckons there’s too much unrest out there….

Have you considered doing an air b&b somewhere instead you could get somewhere really nice with your budget

Oh come on. If she does that she'll just end up cooking and cleaning all week

BringMeTea · 18/11/2024 09:07

Can you ask your dh to be researching in tandem as it sounds like it's falling to you when it is HE with the most 'requirements'? Should also open his eyes to costs these days. Good luck!

Mexico is generally cheaper but I wouldn’t go in August.
same for Mauritius, my friend went in August and it was warmer in England!
You could stretch to 7 nights Maldives but it’s a long flight for 7 nights. Dubai is too hot.

She said top quality not luxurious. £6,000 for 3 AI in the holidays? Of course it's doable.

Or they could eat out for most meals and the three of them can all take turns getting breakfast/drinks/snacks and emptying the dishwasher. What else is there to do?

Twilightstarbright · 18/11/2024 09:21

@50hereIcome I would be asking your ‘D’H for some suggestions rather than requirements at this point!! You are more patient than me.

Darkautumnnights · 18/11/2024 09:27

Ikos. It’s one buffet and the rest is all Ala carte no restrictions on many times you go to them. 500 different wines, all premium drinks etc etc.

wotsitallfor · 18/11/2024 09:33

Not AI but Vila Vita in Portugal has a family half board rate and lots of choice of restaurants. Beach onsite, three pools, kids club, shuttle to town and biergarten / three beach restaurants.

Ah, my grandmother always said he wanted champagne on lemonade money - how transparent he seems to be!!

I think you would be better off doing a cruise. Not for me but I did a couple with dc at that age because they loved the clubs and activities. They aren’t too expensive and if you have lots of health issues, are you ok flying? You can go from the uk.

What unrest in Turkey? Southern Europe is so hot in August. I’d try Norway!

We looked at a med cruise but the thought of docking and doing the excursions/sight seeing is too much for me, physically and mentally. I struggle to swim because of the pain and fatigue getting dressed and undressed causes.
But I am grateful for the suggestion - thankyou.

I’m ok flying as long as I can get up & move frequently. Choosing an appropriate location on a plane is a priority. One of the conditions is degenerative so having to try and do what I physically can now.

I hate being me at times.

I didn’t think there was unrest but DH likes to think negatively…can you tell!? 🤣

Reykjavik was always on my bucket list but again, with the physicality involved now, I’m not sure I would necessarily enjoy it in proportion to the cost involved.

Someone mentioned Stella Palace.
It looks perfect…but because of this, has no availability for the week we can go.
I tried the rack rate directly, all agents online. Thankyou for trying - I can see why you suggested it.
