For Summer 2025 please - Thankyou.
Watersports, seafront, the usual. Similar to Sani/Ikos.

2 adults & a tween.

Budget £6k-ish.

Willing to compromise the length of stay for the quality 😊 Thanks!

Another option is Mauritius- weather cooler than Europe, but if you go to the north or west it should be lovely. Loads of watersports generally included. You could get 9/10 nights at somewhere like le Victoria within budget including flights (I’ve just looked on Kenwood travel).

I actually looked at Mauritius last night having checked out the weather situation. Thankyou for clarifying.

Liberty Fabay in Dalaman, Turkey is a 5 star with ultra all inclusive.

There's one a la carte included and additional a la carte is £20 each. They do have a food court and deli/ patisserie as well as the buffet. There are some YouTube videos which show the resort, and a Facebook group.

Perfect! Will also add to my list. Thankyou for all the info.

But the OPs not going to get ultra luxury Ikos AI in summer for £6k unless she reduces the length of stay down to about 3 days.

The sticking point seems to be her DH wanting a la carte and a sea view. So they either need to pay the going rate or find another way to get what's most important to them.

We get a sea view, a la carte dining, beach and watersports for a lot less than £6k because we rent an apartment and use local facilities, shops and restaurants rather than staying in a luxury hotel.

As long as the accommodation is clean, it's fine as we spend all our time on the balcony or out and about anyway.

Mexico is generally cheaper but I wouldn’t go in August.
same for Mauritius, my friend went in August and it was warmer in England!
You could stretch to 7 nights Maldives but it’s a long flight for 7 nights. Dubai is too hot.

Ah, maybe not Mauritius then.

I looked at flights to the Maldives but with such a long flight time it didn’t seem viable but I know why you suggested it, thankyou.
Yep, Middle East ruled out.

Coral Beech Hotel, Cyprus we had a duplex suite. We’ve been to Sani Beach a few years ago, quite similar.

We have done Cyprus a lot as I worked out there - sorry, I should have said. Thankyou for coming on board though. We did Olympic Beach Lagoon, St Raphael, Almyra, Aloe and several others.

Hillside Beach Club in Fethiye (Turkey) is beautiful, tasteful, loads to do and could be just what you're after!

Thanks for the heads-up. What made it crap?

I think part of it was misleading photos, as they use the panoramic sea view room photos for the other sea view rooms on the Aria website, and they can be chalk and cheese.

We were next to the main building (with no lift) and the view was just multiple rooftops and a tiny sliver of sea in the distance. In fairness, they upgraded us to a pool view room in Deluxe halfway through the week (which I preferred to the sea view in any case as it was bigger despite both being junior suites).

I've since decided that I'd rather have a cheaper room than think I'm getting the panoramic sea view when the reality is rather different. I didn't think the food and service was as good at Aria as Andalusia but the sea won us over.

Interesting!
Thankyou so much for this. Very grateful. Such a shame 🥺

To the poster who said not to do All Inclusive

I understand why you say that but for personal health reasons this isn’t an option, sadly.

How about a lovely hotel for B&B and then eating out at night? Is there a reason it has to be AI? Then you’re not stuck in a kitchen but also not eating buffet food. You can get really lovely buffet breakfasts that fill you up, snack for lunch, and a decent meal out at a place you’ve chosen.

I'd say that's a different quality holiday though! And a different type of holiday.

Two places that are lovely not quite Sani or Ikos

Cordial Mogan Playa in Gran Canaria

Iberostar Lanzarote Park but not sure you'd get that for £6k well either of them!

I did Cordial Mogan Playa last year. The hotel was definitely stunning. It was only a half/full board hotel though and not AI. The food was just buffet when we went as the other restaurant was closed. The evening entertainment wasn't that great and the whole resort although lovely shuts down by 11pm. We had junior suites which were nice and clean but quite dated.

Twilightstarbright · 17/11/2024 09:05

@50hereIcome it is frustrating! And pre kids we each paid for ourselves but now we have DS who eats like an adult and needs a proper bed it’s a much bigger cost as we are each paying for 1.5 people!

We’d like to do Disneyworld- DHs request. I’ve shown him the cost to go in the one school holiday we can both take off work (Oct) and the price. It costs what it costs. I’m good at finding bargains but I’m not a magician!

Liberty Fabay is an excellent suggestion, everyone I know has loved it. Rebecca Addlington went to a lovely looking hotel in Turkey if you check her instagram.

HarrietBond · 17/11/2024 09:06

@50hereIcome sorry, you’ve just said it has to be AI.

SchoolDilemma17 · 17/11/2024 09:06

Could you go in April? Mexico is lovely then and you can get AI resorts that have 5-6 a la carte restaurants. You can probably stretch to 10 nights and there are direct flights from Gatwick to Cancun. Don’t know if Gatwick is too far for you.

edit: just checked, you can do 12 nights on the Mayan coast for 6k. Resorts there are beautiful with big rooms.

I’m a bit of a holiday snob but like to make sure we’re getting value for money too. Over the years some of the all inclusive holidays are Ikos Andalusia in May, Gran Canaria in august, Mexico in April and august, Mauritius in April and august, Maldives in May/June. We hit change over season in the Maldives which meant half of the holiday was very windy, everywhere else was good, albeit we needed a heated pool in Mauritius in august. Mexico was really humid in august. We’re heading back to Mauritius this august, from a facilities and value perspective (as well as the beautiful beaches) we are willing to take a bit of a risk with the weather. At least we will be able to walk/explore which is virtually impossible in the European august heat.

I have done Maldives in August a few times and it was always ok. Maybe 1-2 days of rain but never much (maybe a couple of hours) and it’s always hot and humid.

I loved Mexico but was too scared too go back in August because of hurricane season.

Wherehas2023gone · 17/11/2024 09:12

I hear Mexico is quite expensive now, especially with the tipping culture, so we probably won’t go back.

We did the Banyan Tree in Mexico - wow - off the scale, we were spoiled. I think this is the problem DH has.

School holidays? You'll be looking at 4 star not 5 on that budget - look at TUI magic life hotels. Not super luxury but solid 4 star hotels (6 to choose from across Europe) I've been to the fuerteventura one and it's right along side a beautiful beach ideal for swimming off, bus route outside to go out to next town or zoo, multiple restaurants included (you book on the app, getting one trip to each every week though this was 2 years ago) lots of sports included, multiple entertainment venues, quiet or more upbeat and so on. Room was comfortable, good air con (included) balcony overlooking sea etc.

Oh and some restaurants were a la carte by the way, think 2 out of the 5 included ones were plus you could pay extra for another

SwedishHills · 17/11/2024 09:18

Think about how much time you will spend on your balcony in the day time (v the beach / pool / bars in a nice comfy chair etc). We loved Ikos and had the view and honestly didn't use it that much so wasn't worth the extra money on top.
