Help! Valencia floods/Alicante

This is a bit of a long one the tldr is that I am in Alicante with my 14 yo having been diverted from Valencia last night. Obviously had we known how bad the situation was going to get we wouldn't have got on the plane.

Our flight back is on Saturday morning.

I am now thinking we should stay in Alicante and make our way to Valencia on Friday, but it's very hard to tell what state Valencia is in.

Does anyone have any recommendations for places to stay in Alicante (budget c £100)?

And are there any mumsnetters in the area who might be able to give me a picture of what is going on in Valencia? It is very hard to tell without speaking Spanish but looks as if half the city is still under water.

Contact the airport. Don’t rely on random bits of advice here!

‘Next few days should be pleasant’
Whole areas are devastated and dozens of people have died.

easyJet changed our flight without charging so we are flying from Alicante on Saturday. They've actually been really good. The situation in Valencia is horrific and it feels not at all right to rock up there as a tourist regardless of the logistical challenges

great result well done Easyjet (who were shut when they cancelled my flight and left me stranded once)

I hope you have a pleasant couple of days

Sounds like a great outcome for you. We'll done Easyjet. Lots to do and see in Alicante.
The Valencia situation is tragic, now looking at more than 200 dead, many roads and rail services are non operational and there's more rain expected.

Good news that EasyJet have changed your flights. We had a short break in Alicante a couple of years back and it seemed a really nice place so hope you enjoy your time there.

And yes what has happened in Valencia is awful and I agree they don't need extra people there at the moment, and it would be difficult trying to enjoy yourself while there is such devastation for the local people.
