Hi, looking for recommendations of where to go in Greece, looking for somewhere with nice beach, local tavernas, not to far transfer, would prefer b&b so needs to have restaurants near by and not to hilly! Only two adults no children, been to Corfu several times so looking elsewhere although would not rule it out, any suggestions please

Argassi or Alykes in Zante tick your boxes. Been to both recently and both lovely.

needhelpwiththisplease · 08/08/2024 13:03

Kefelonia

Tabbycat81 · 08/08/2024 13:06

Just back from Kefalos in Kos - sounds like it would tick your boxes ☀️

Chania Town in Crete.
Very picturesque, mostly flat, lovely beaches, lots of fantastic restaurants along the waterfront, has its own airport so transfers short.

Forgottenmyphone · 08/08/2024 13:43

Mykonos is flat and has some amazing beaches.

Ineedaholidayyyy · 08/08/2024 13:45

Skiathos is beautiful 😍

Karlsonn · 08/08/2024 15:54

Thank you for the suggestions. I will start looking

Isn't Mykonos party central?

OP do you mind being somewhere with lots of brits, or are you looking for somewhere more authentically greek or with wider european vibe?

Karlsonn · 08/08/2024 17:29

have seen reports about Mykonos being very trendy and expensive now so that’s me out, where in Kefalonia? Have been to Skala, looking more traditional Greece

We're going to Agean houses hotel just outside Kos town in a couple of months. Seems to tick all your boxes.
It was based on the fantastic reviews I made the decision to book.

Filterphobia · 08/08/2024 21:05

I’ve just got back from Tigaki in Kos although we hired a car and travelled around the island, I would echo previous poster who said Kefalos in Kos as it was beautiful although it seemed quiet and very low key.

For those suggesting Kefalonia can I ask which resort? I am currently considering Lassi for Summer 2025. What did you think of Skala OP?

alrightluv · 08/08/2024 21:11

I was going to say Kassiopi Corfu but you've probably been? Also agree with Chania.

I quite fancy trying Kefalonia.

Kalyves in Crete.

Nice beach. Lots of restaurants and bars.

MargotMoon · 08/08/2024 21:23

Second the suggestion of Alykes on Zakynthos!

Rorpethy · 08/08/2024 21:29

Kefalonia. We stayed in lixouri but hired a car and explored most of the island.

MrsPatrickDempsey · 08/08/2024 21:29

Skiathos Town is lovely.

carnation2531 · 08/08/2024 21:42

We loved Pefkos in Rhodes - very local feeling but plenty for tourists as well.

Hatscarfgloves · 08/08/2024 22:03

I have been to Greece several times but the loveliest island I have ever visited there is Koufonisi. I went about 12/13 years ago I think, when there was very little there, and I have heard it’s more touristy now but still nothing like many of other islands.

The beaches are gorgeous, sandy and crystal clear sea. There were several excellent tavernas (including one where you could meet the fishing boat coming in, pick your fish to be set aside for the evening, and then it would be cooked when you came for dinner later - wonderful!) The whole island can be walked around in about a day.

We just swam, read, ate and slept for the whole week. Blissful! We didn’t have kids then!

alrightluv · 09/08/2024 10:51

@Hatscarfgloves how easy is it to get to?

Hatscarfgloves · 09/08/2024 11:34

@alrightluv It was over a decade ago so I can’t quite recall! I don’t remember it being bad though. Possibly a flight to Athens and then a ferry to the island? I’m afraid you will have to Google it.
