Where is warm in February for a special birthday?

It’s my ‘big’ birthday in February and I would love to wake up somewhere warm and a bit more exotic than the north of England! Can anyone please recommend anywhere for a week that will be warm (I’m not too fussed if it’s not hot) but also suitable for our just-turned 3YO to tag along with us, too?

Tenerife

I would say the East coast of Australia but that may be a little bit far! But it’s hot and humid in Feb!

Tenerife

have you been at this time of year? Which resort would you recommend, please? I’ve never been!

Costa adeje in Tenerife. Some lovely hotels with kids pools and entertainment and also lovely to stroll along the coast stopping at restaurants etc.

our wedding anniversary is early February and it’s usually mid 20s then.

We did two weeks in Lanzarote in January this year and it was really warm - about 27⁰ most days.

Cape Verde also warm.

Ladybughoping · 06/08/2024 21:32

Was coming on to suggest Cape Verde - we prefer Sal to Boa Vista, there’s a bit more going on on the island. Look at Riu palace - they have a kids water park.

Thumberline · 06/08/2024 21:35

As above Riu Palace in Cape Verde is lovely for little ones. We went when my eldest was as 18 months and she loved the little water park. The hotel has a nice beach too.

@FrenchandSaunders Are the pools/resorts open in feb? We're thinking of where to go in feb and are thinking of Tenerife but I was wondering if things were open? Thanks.

I'd also recommend Cape Verde (I stayed on Boa Vista) but would probably try Sal as I think there's a bit more to do or one of the Canary Islands (my personal favourite is Lanzarote).

You need to be between the tropics or that sort of area for warmth in February. The Canaries, Dubai, Morocco, Egypt etc (although the later probably less suitable with a 3 year old).

Cuppateatea · 07/08/2024 14:18

Puerto del Carmen is perfect in January. Ten minutes from the airport. Main part by beach is very family and child friendly. The Old Town is quieter and more traditional which is where we prefer to go.Loads of bars, restaurants etc close by some great apartment and villa complexes with lovely pools. There is a Facebook page for Puerto del Carmen with some fab recommendations for apartments, hotels etc. edit to say it’s Lanzarote!

Yes, if you are prepared to do a longer flight, the likes of Dubai is a great alternative (although I preferred Abu Dhabi - I found Dubai a bit soulless).

Lanzarote I even got a tan lol

Mercurial123 · 07/08/2024 14:44

Hoi An Vietnam. Close to the beach, and the town is so pretty. Hue and Da Nang for day trips.

Mercurial123 · 07/08/2024 14:45

Just saw you're only going for a week. Oman would be good so much nicer than Dubai.

MrsBungle · 07/08/2024 14:47

Maldives is perfect in February.

wwyd2021medicine · 07/08/2024 15:05

I was in playa las Americas in early January for the last 2 years. Every single day was proper bikini on beach weather.
Early January 2022, only most days were hot enough for the beach but only from late morning.
So there's an element of luck with it.
It doesn't bother me though and I'll be going in January 2025 again. It's the temperature difference at that time of year I like so much. It's lovely wearing a sleeveless dress in January! If it's cooler, we just go for long walks or go to attractions.

Usernamerequired123 · 07/08/2024 15:29

Following with keen interest. DS will turn 4 and thinking of going away to someplace warm early Feb.

BrenFurlong · 07/08/2024 16:19

Any of the canaries in a nice hotel with a heated pool. We've been in Dec, Jan and February and always had lovely weather.

Moier · 07/08/2024 16:23

Lanzarote.
But I'm bias we have a villa there.
Yes everything is open.
It's a year round resort like all the Canaries.

It's one if the busiest times of year. Everything will be open. Just take a wrap/cardigan/light jacket for evenings. Costa Adeje or Los Gigantes.

LlynTegid · 07/08/2024 17:28

I'd agree with the suggestions of the Canaries. Some of the other suggestions are places where I would never go on holiday either because being LGBT is illegal, and/or women are treated badly.

I was surprised that you do not consider the north of England to be without places that are exotic. I think you should not tell those around you that, especially if you live or visit 'God's Own Country'!!

Cattina · 07/08/2024 18:13

I went to Seville in February for my honeymoon and the weather was lovely. T-shirt and jeans or shorts during the day but did need jumpers / jackets for the evening. But reasonable flight time for good weather and lots of nice gardens, shops, restaurants etc.
