Would you stay at Property A or Property B?

Going to an island called Antigua for a week in January. Trying to decide between a small hotel or an airbnb. What do you think is better?

Property A: https://www.booking.com/Share-cLatfb
bed and breakfast, walking distance to restaurants, but a taxi to the beach. Hotel has a pool nearby. £1,300 a week if booked directly.

Property B: https://www.airbnb.com/slink/i6oND7BP shared pool. Would rent a car for £250 a week, accommodation is £1,000. So £1,250 a week without breakfast.

Which would you do?

B

Personally option B

We generally get a car anyway, so for us that wouldn't count.

I find I prefer peace now and not lots of people

Changed18 · 19/07/2024 22:00

Think they’d both be great. Depends on if you want splendid isolation or not. Think without kids I’d go for the hotel - would be a change for me since we do lots of self-catering.

Whatevershallidowithmylife · 19/07/2024 22:01

Normally I would go for the airbnb but in this case, A, definitely A!!

User050105 · 20/07/2024 11:13

B has 3 or 4 apartments in the same building, did I read that right? So it could end up being quite busy in a small space. I'd go for the hotel. Although how near is the "nearby pool"?

LibertyDuck · 20/07/2024 11:19

Air BnBs are terrible for the local community, I would choose a hotel every time.

ChopSue · 20/07/2024 13:59

Whatever would feel safer, for me.

Shufflebumnessie · 20/07/2024 14:37

A, definitely!

TizerorFizz · 20/07/2024 14:48

A is at English Harbour? Is that right? B isn’t right on the beach either. I like English Harbour and I’d go there. It doesn’t bother me that there’s other properties on the site. Not quite sure why properties offering employment are hated but the appartment doesn’t seem near nice places. English Harbour is yachty but as a result has more to do.

B

breakfast is easy to source for the week

CoolShoeshine · 20/07/2024 16:39

A looks lovely. I like being walking distance from bars and restaurants, hate having to drive all the time on holiday.

cheezncrackers · 20/07/2024 16:43

A. I like being able to eat breakfast without having to go out foraging for it. And being walking distance to restaurants is perfect - who wants to drive all the time?

Yes, and depending on what is on offer for breakfast I may prefer to cook my own. I'm fussy!

Nerd3 · 20/07/2024 20:48

A definitely

This. A for me - wouldn't consider B.

gillefc82 · 20/07/2024 21:06

Unless I’m missing it on the description, seems B does not have aircon, which would be a must have for me. Not sure if this is your first time visiting the Island, but if your host isn’t someone particularly helpful, then I’d go with A as at least the hotel staff can assist with recommendations, arranging car hire/excursions etc.

lyingonthebeach · 20/07/2024 21:39

The hotel

DiduAye · 20/07/2024 23:03

Hotel for me

Everyoneesleistheproblem · 20/07/2024 23:57

A

I like an Airbnb because it makes you feel more invested in the place you're going. But a really posh hotel is great because being spoilt is fun.
Do you want a " let's see somewhere new" vibe or a let's just eat, drink and shag holiday?
Hiring a car would be the kiss of death unless there was something specific I knew wanted to get to.

Sugarbeaches · 21/07/2024 00:03

Edit as I misread your post! I thought you were taking your children.

i think the hotel looks lovely! We have considered this hotel for our summer holiday - please update if you go here!

SouthgatesWaistcoat · 21/07/2024 00:22

The hotel - because it has air con & is walking distance to restaurants and things. I hate having to drive to get anywhere on holiday!

IWishIWasABaller · 21/07/2024 00:29

Hotel without a doubt but I wonder why you can't swim at their beach

DTisawazzock · 21/07/2024 00:33

The link to the hotel comes up with a page of hotels so I have no idea which one you are referring to.

Not that keen on the AirBnB though. Too remote and wouldn't like sharing an pool in those circumstances.
