Tui or jet2

Hello, Jet2 are flying from my local airport from next year, so I wondered what they are like compared with tui?

We flew with them to cyprus a week ago. Seem OK. Have an app for boarding passes, etc

Massivescreen · 02/07/2024 22:30

When I booked a package holiday last year I went with jet2 as the price included checked luggage. It was fine I had no complaints.

Bjorkdidit · 03/07/2024 05:38

Jet2 are really good, probably better than Tui.

I always find these kind of queries odd because they're so well established here (Leeds) and I forget that there's parts of the country where they're only just moving into.

LadyWhitwell · 03/07/2024 05:47

Jet2 is very good

CeeceeBloomingdale · 03/07/2024 05:57

I use Jet2 a lot, after a bad experience I'd never use Tui again.

Painauraison · 03/07/2024 06:04

So when we went away last year there was a problem with the aid traffic control in the UK. All of the jet 2 passenger desks were empty, no communication and people left sleeping on the floor for 2 days!
All tui desks open, plus emails sent and flights still going out...

DoublePeonies · 03/07/2024 06:39

Jet2 are brilliant.
Never used Tui.

Perfectlystill · 03/07/2024 06:53

Jet2 are great

Shatteredandconfused · 03/07/2024 06:57

I think they were marginally better than TUI overall and I’ve used both. Depending on the holiday , you got more luggage as standard. However, I went back to TUI last time as the deal for the holiday I wanted was better so worth comparing as there wasn’t a huge difference between the two.

Butterflyfern · 03/07/2024 07:00

Much of a muchness I think tbh.

Although we found the same holiday on Jet2 this year for a grand cheaper than Tui. The hotel is having some minor work done to part of it. Jet2 were very clear this was happening and expected dates etc and gave a discount accordingly. Tui mentioned none of it. (Unless they would have done at point of booking, but still a grand more for bnb is a lot)

Tisfortired · 03/07/2024 07:05

Another vote for Jet2. Have used many times in the last few years and never had a single problem.

Ineedhelp1981 · 03/07/2024 07:14

Another vote for Jet2 even though I haven't had any problems with TUI. Just feel the customer experience is better with Jet2.

HowNice23 · 03/07/2024 07:18

Jet 2 very reliable. Never had problems even when one year it seemed everywhere had strikes. When delayed we got vouchers and water promptly. Excellent communication.

mitogoshi · 03/07/2024 07:29

Jet 2 were pretty good but they recently have reduced their package perks so their are no longer an advantage. Look at both, see which is offering what you want

Whitesapphire · 03/07/2024 07:30

After going with Jet2 last year I vowed never to use TUI again, they were great.

allaboardtheplaybus · 03/07/2024 07:44

Jet2 are better than tui. The massive queues at our local airport are always Tui!

We had similar, I think it might have been Krakow.

Delays and nobody from Jet2 around. We found out what was going on from the Ryanair staff.

I find that very surprising tbh. We've flown Jet2 loads and there's always masses of their staff at the airport and any time there's been a problem, they've been great at keeping us informed, even the time we flew back while the Tui plane that slid off the runway at Leeds Bradford closed the airport for 2 days and everything was a total mess, they did everything they could to help people and also limit delays where they could.

By contrast, we came back from Tenerife in March ‘20 just as Spain decided to lock down and flights heading for Spanish airports were turning around mid-flight.
Airside of the airport was closed due to covid scare, so streetside/roadside/thebitbeforesecuritywhateverthatscalled was packed and plenty of people outside too. The jet2 staff were plenty inside, handing out water, telling people what was going on, what to expect. Easy to spot in their brightly coloured jackets.
We’ve used them ever since.

AreYouShittingMe · 03/07/2024 10:02

Another vote for Jet2 here, given our experience post Covid when there appeared to be chaos everywhere else.
Only downside is the Jess Glynn song on repeat on the transfer coach, waiting set off 😆.
It was only one journey TBH, and I did forgive them as we'd left an airport where other companies had been cancelling flights due to lack of staff post Covid/ strikes, and so I was just grateful to get away!
We were shafted by RyanAir in Covid so a company who value their passengers is high on my list of priorities these days

Brendabigbaps · 03/07/2024 10:06

We did a villa package with jet2 a couple of months ago. Everything was great until we had Villa issues that they couldn’t fix (cockroaches), they then ignored us. We’re currently 26 days into waiting for a reply to a formal complaint with them that they have yet to reply to (but have acknowledged receipt of)
I’ll be going back to tui next holiday

willproblem · 03/07/2024 10:56

I've used both. I've had problems with Tui & won't use them again.
Jet2 are fine.

Have you looked at EasyJet holidays ? All 3 sometimes use the same hotels, & EJ are usually cheaper. Need to check what the packages include/exclude, e.g. transfers, luggage quantity etc.

whatcom22 · 03/07/2024 10:59

Used jet2 several times, no issues and staff both at local airport and place we usually go to always great. I've been tui a couple of times too and was fine but prefer jet2

Tallisker · 03/07/2024 11:00

I find the overhead lockers in the aircraft Jet2 use are massive, we usually take hand luggage only and pay for guaranteed space, so this suits us.

Last time we flew we did a package with checked luggage and our luggage didn't come back with us, but was delivered to our home address the following day with no fuss. I quite like them.

Perr · 03/07/2024 11:31

Over the years I've used both. I'd say Jet2 usually have the edge on price and I much prefer their website and app, but other than that once you book there is little difference.
I generally use Jet2 because they have more choice of flight times from Leeds. Some destinations will have 2 or 3 flights a day so you can pick what suits.
