hi all, I am struggling to find somewhere hot in September, has anyone been anywhere they'd recommend for a couple that's not Spain or Canaries?

Budget is up to £1,000 pp
5 ish hours flight max and no more than one hour airport transfer
Prefer adults only, though not a deal breaker if not
Hotel near to a centre/bit of nightlife and shops/bars etc

thanks :)

Cyprus is usually nice & warm in September, went last year fairly late September was in the thirties.

ZiggyZowie · 06/06/2024 13:10

Tunisia, Morocco, Southern Italy

ExhaustedGoose · 06/06/2024 13:23

Turkey, Egypt, Tunisia, Cyprus

Most of Southern Europe is lovely in September.

Lisbon and surrounding areas, Cote D'Azur, Sicily, Greek Islands.

All still likely near 30 degrees at the start of the month and 25 at the end.

Crikeyalmighty · 06/06/2024 13:32

Most of the Greek islands are still great till about September 23rd- after that I would go for bigger ones like Crete or Rhodes. - not because of weather, but because a lot of smaller islands start to shut down significantly

thank you for this, I have actually looked at Cyprus, but it seems really expensive in comparison ...will keep looking though as I like the look of it. :)

Ah good shout thanks, I noticed this when I went to Corfu and Ibiza a couple of years ago, there was hardly anything open 😩

My personal opinion, but I will not go back to Egypt again. The street harassment and cheating was not to my taste. Good snorkelling though.

Ah thanks, I will look at staying first two weeks in month then. I'd hate to go and it's cold

Lisbon, never really thought of here as a holiday resort, more a sightseeing place? Greek Islands is on my list but not sure where, though someone mentioned Rhodes, which I've been to so will look there too. thanks

I’ve only been to Egypt once & that was enough, the constant hassle whilst walking about plus the food was always luke warm no matter where we ate.

Lisbon is great but if you want a less 'city' vibe then staying up the coast around Cascais would be perfect and you could pop into Lisbon for a day. It's a fab area and a wonderful city.

I went to Southern France (Avignon) last year in September and it was very warm.

Did lots of sightseeing but not sure of nightlife etc - I was travelling solo and liked being cosy in my rented apartment at night!

That sounds fab ... unfortunately my DH wants to come so it won't work for me😂

I went to Avignon by myself in April @HPFA . It’s lovely isn’t it?

Look at Fiskardo in Kefalonia OP.

Crikeyalmighty · 07/06/2024 09:28

@Chocbuttonsandredwine one of my favourite actual resorts

drspouse · 07/06/2024 09:38

I went to Egypt on a Nile cruise and was fairly insulated from the street hassle but a) it was the 90s and b) sounds like you want to lie on a beach!

@MinnieMountain

It was lovely. I did less travelling around the area than I expected in favour of exploring the town more deeply.

Where to go in late august early September?

Thinking about Sicily, Portugal (Lisbon and Porto), Greece, or Turkey. I am not that great with heat but am resigned to it. Have ruled out Morocco and Egypt though thinking they will be even hotter. Am i right?

Can overlap a bit into September as my son's college will be ok with him going back a bit late.

cannotfindanickname · 07/06/2024 19:02

Sorry posted this by mistake. i meant to start a new post not hijack this one.

Spirallingdownwards · 07/06/2024 19:06

I think you may struggle on your budget to be honest in September
