2 bedrooms together - needle in a haystack?

DDs are still young so we need them to be within the same accommodation without being in the same room. It seems nigh on impossible!

Previously we've stayed self catering in the UK, till COVID priced us out. Then we did Meliá Sunny Beach for a couple of years because it's a hotel room where there's only one door. That's into our double room, then a door through to a separate twin room and ensuite. Everyone has a bed. It's completely safe. Perfect.

Due to the ages of DDs Meliá Sunny Beach doesn't suit us this year (too old for kids club, too young for teenagers club) The only places we can find are 2 rooms but no guarantee they have an interconnecting door. DDs are too young to be separate from us. Or one bedroom apartments where DDs would have the bedroom and we need to sleep on a sofa bed! That is not a holiday!

Has anyone stayed anywhere like Meliá Sunny Beach or a 2 bedroom apartment type place and would recommend it please? Anywhere in summer holiday weather Europe-ish except Turkey, Tunisia or Egypt. I have searched "everywhere* but none of the search filters help my search criteria!

Does it need to be on a complex/resort? Do you need kids clubs? Delphina.it have several places in Sardinia where you can get apartments within a resort. Otherwise, I'd look at Booking.com for 2 bed apartments and put pool/near beach as criteria.

WolfFoxHare · 14/04/2024 21:24

Do they need to go to a club?

reluctantbrit · 14/04/2024 21:30

What we did was looking at hotels we liked and then looking directly at their website. Often you find 2 bedroom suites they don't sell via the travel operators.

Problem though, they are often booked out months in advance.

We stayed at the Hotel Riu Buenavista once, same set up room wise as you describe. A bit too remote for us though as we like to go out for dinner in the evenings. But Riu may be worth looking into.

I agree OP , to me wanting my kids in a separate room but which are adjoining and not wanting to sleep on a crappy sofa bed are basic requirements for a holiday, yet not only is it apparently rare, it’s also impossible to search for on any of the major companies websites. I have no suggestions as I looked last year, thought I’d find something suitable based on the floor plan but a) the rooms were separated by a curtain and b) my daughters room was only separated from the lounge area by a half height wall, not an actual wall as it apart on the floor plan.

Magic Natura in Benidorm is amazing

Blue lagoon village, Kos

PatChaunceysFruitCake · 14/04/2024 21:38

Iberostar Bougainville Playa in Tenerife has interconnecting rooms.

Businessflake · 14/04/2024 21:40

Cant recommend any specific places, but if you book direct with a hotel over the phone /email rather than a travel company or hotel website they will often guarantee interconnecting rooms. We have done this before. You can keep one permanently locked from the inside and leave the door between unlocked.

fashionqueen1183 · 14/04/2024 21:43

Can’t the kids sleep on a sofa bed? That’s what we did when younger. We’d rent an apartment and my parents would have their own bedroom.
What about an air bnb?
Or try hotels which have apartments linked. Hotel Sur Menorca might 🤔

VWT5 · 14/04/2024 21:43

Have you searched for “family rooms” - one outer door, 2 double rooms, 2 bathrooms within?

e.g. Neilson Beachclub Alana in Croatia, TUI Magic Life Fuerteventura are just 2 that spring to mind.

WesterChick · 14/04/2024 21:45

Air BnB

Mallorca Mar Tui Blue was excellent we had two rooms, living room and two bathrooms, kitchen and dining area and wrap around balcony. It was excellent, had a lovely time. We needed space for 6. When we went to Tui this was only one of two hotels they had they could cater for us!

veryfondoftea · 14/04/2024 21:47

The SENSATORI resorts have a good set up with many of there rooms. Also kids clubs etc

JillyBoel22 · 14/04/2024 21:47

Relaxia Lanzasur in Playa Blanca, Lanzarote has adjoining apartments with interconnecting doors. All accommodation is like this so would be likely you'd be able to book.

Also a water park on site for the kids :)

Came to say this. Interconnecting rooms are really hard to find online as it's almost impossible to administrate in an automatic booking system. Call or directly email the hotels you like.

I think you can filter 2 bedrooms on tui , check out some of the Greek islands . Some of their smaller hotels have 2 bedroom apartments

USaYwHatNow · 14/04/2024 21:49

A lot of hotels in Lanzarote have these as standard/for a small price increase.

HAF1119 · 14/04/2024 21:49

Filter tui blue or holiday villages on the tui sites and they have 2 bed rooms or a 'kids den' with a lot of their hotels

DB Seabank Resort Malta. Family rooms have a sliding door in the middle so you can section it in half

Zebrasinpyjamas · 14/04/2024 21:52

We had a 2 bedroom apartment in the Royal Son Bou in Menorca plus there's a pull out bed in the lounge so sleeps 6. Had a surprisingly varied range of kids club compared to other holiday hotels I've stayed in.

MindatWork · 14/04/2024 21:53

You need to search for aparthotels - look at the viva hotels chain in Majorca, we stayed at viva blue in playa de muro in a 2 bed apartment. DD’s room had bunk beds which she loved, and there was also a kitchenette with a toaster and fridge.

The resort was fairly small but there was a kids club, play area, 2 pools, bars/restaurants etc and walking distance to offsite restaurants and beach.

They have a few different hotels, might be worth taking a look https://www.hotelsviva.com/en/

We have always rented two bedroom apartments when the children came on holiday with us. Never been a problem ever. Am confused.

EwwSprouts · 14/04/2024 21:56

Hotel & Spa S'Entrador Playa in Cala Ratjada on Majorca, has a room off a room set up for families. Lovely sandy beach 2 minutes walk away, backed by pine trees.

Dibblydoodahdah · 14/04/2024 21:56

Royal Hideway Corales Tenerife has amazing two bedroom suites with private pool, full kitchen and a laundry room. It’s not cheap though. The Hilton Vilamoura, Portugal also has lovely two bedroom apartments.

FawnFrenchieMum · 14/04/2024 21:58

We’ve found this in Blue Lagoon Kos, Stella Village and Stella Palace, Crete and in Cala Azul, Cala D’or Majorca.
