Depends what you mean by "destination".

If you mean country, then, yes, plenty of return visits to the same country.

But if you mean town, then, never, not a single time have I been to the same town or hotel etc.

I'd usually go to a different resort or different area of the same country/island, etc., if it was big enough to have different things to see and do.

Just not interested in going back to the same place, the same attraction, the same hotel, the same beach, the same restaurant, etc., Life's too short. If there aren't different things to do in a particular country/island, etc., then I won't go back, however much I enjoyed it. I've got a very long bucket list of places I want to go to, things I want to see, so just going to the same place doesn't tick anything off the list.

I.e. I love Cyprus and have been 3 times, but each time to different areas and no overlap at all (except for using Paphos airport twice, but stayed in different areas). Same with Majorca, once stayed in the south and once stayed in the North. Been several times to the USA, but completely different states, etc.

budgiegirl · 05/04/2024 13:12

Menorca - probably 50 times
Majorca x 3
Rome x 3
New York x 5
Barcelona x 3
Miami x 5
Orlando x 4
Lanzarote x 3
Tenerife x 3
Gran Canaria x 2
Carvoeiro x 2
Bangkok x 2

In this country - Devon, Dorset, Cornwall many times, I'm not sure how many, we used to take the kids camping two or three times a year, plus I went when we were kids.

Bostoncremecolor · 05/04/2024 13:14

Loads! Been to each of these at last 4 times - Tokyo, NY, LA, DC, Boston, Orlando, Paris, Copenhagen.

If we are counting cities in the UK - I have been to all major cities several times.

WhatWouldYouDo33 · 05/04/2024 13:28

Florida to visit family
Sicily - beautiful beaches, amazing food, child friendly
Maldives - love the snorkelling and beaches

CharlotteStreetW1 · 05/04/2024 13:34

Many years ago DH and I agreed we wouldn't go back to holiday destinations as there are too many places in the world to see. We blew it quite quickly! Here's what I've repeated so far (that I can remember), some with other people but mostly with DH...

Antigua x 2
Barbados x 2
Australia x 2
Slovenia - Lake Bled × 3
Croatia - x 3
Naxos x 3
Santorini (to get to/from Naxos) x 3
Athens x 2
Bruges x 3
Canada - Toronto x 2
US - New York x 2
Ireland - West Cork - countless
Ireland - Dublin x 3 (and I hate Dublin)
France - Paris x 5
France - different destinations - countless
Italy - different destinations - countless
Spain - different destinations - countless

If I can only go back to one, it would always be Slovenia ❤

Overtheatlantic · 05/04/2024 13:36

Almostwelsh · 05/04/2024 13:55

I've been to The Netherlands 5 times including 3 trips to Duinrell. The kids loved Duinrell and kept asking to go back, plus it's convenient for the airport and you don't need a car - I'm the sole driver and I dislike doing a lot of driving on my holidays.

I've been to the USA twice, but to different states so I don't think that counts.

I've also been to Spain a few times, but different areas.

There are quite a few places in the UK I've been to several times.

PeanutAndBanana · 05/04/2024 13:55

If we are being specific (and I think we should - I wouldn't say "Italy", for example, as it's huge...) and talking about clearly defined areas, then (discounting childhood holidays which were always Norfolk or Brittany because I had no say in that)...
Snowdonia, and Barmouth (I love Barmouth)
New York
Paris
Amsterdam
Elounda in Crete
Florence and Lucca
Northumberland
South Devon
The French Alps

LadyWiddiothethird · 05/04/2024 13:59

Ireland.
Scotland.
Wales.
Sussex.
Cornwall.
Crete.
Lanzarote.
Cyprus.
Kos.
Kefalonia.
Spain.
France.
Italy.Lived there for years.
Austria.
Rhodes.
All of the above I have been to many times.

Ikeameatballs · 05/04/2024 14:04

Same part of Scotland 3 times.
Barcelona twice.
Majorca twice as an adult, multiple times as a child
Menorca twice.
Cyprus 4 times, twice as a child.
Will be going to Portugal and New York for a second time this year.

Different reasons for going back to the same place eg Scotland liked the rental properties available and the walks around an area a reasonable distance from home. Cyprus looking for reliable weather and good flight times rather than needing to explore somewhere new.

MissAmbrosia · 05/04/2024 14:23

Italian Lakes - lots
Italian Riviera - lots
French Riviera - lots
Languedoc - lots
Prague x 6
Barcelona x 5
Seville x 3
Granada x 2
Budapest x 3
Munich x 4
Ischia x 3

And I try to go to different places. My European travel map is very comprehensive.

DuckonaBike · 05/04/2024 14:34

Well we’ve had a holiday home in France for nearly 20 years so I’ve lost count of the number of times we have been there 😂. Also been repeatedly to the Lake District, Peak District, Dorset, and to other parts of France. I think novelty is overrated.

AngelsWithSilverWings · 05/04/2024 14:44

Orlando 3
San Francisco 2
LA 2
Las Vegas 4
Cornwall 7
Sorrento 2

As a general rule, and before having children, I completely agree(d) with you, but now I have two children - one autistic and the youngest very strong willed - holidays are such hard work that I now see the appeal of returning to the same place. More familiar for the children (esp my autistic child) and less stressful for the adults. However, when we are eventually able to go on holiday without the children again (in many years' time!) I would like to return to prioritising places I haven't visited before.

There are so many interesting places to discover in the world and there's not enough annual leave or money to discover them all!

ShinyAppleDreamingOfTheSea · 06/04/2024 01:22

Destinations or countries ?

Wales - so many times I can't remember - different and repeated destinations
Lake District - again so many times I can't remember
Are Minehead and Weston both in Somerset? As been to both 10/15 times
Few holidays Devon / Cornwall and Yorkshire Dales
Spain - mainland around 18 times, includes 10 stays in Nerja
Plus 3 times to Mallorca
Italy around 15 times - includes 8 holidays to Lake Garda (different resorts)
Portugal 3 times
Croatia twice
France 3 times
Germany 3 times

I've not been out of Europe .

TeamGeriatric · 06/04/2024 07:01

I always want to visit new places. I don't feel that going to Porto and then taking a separate trip to Lisbon is going back to the same place, even though both are in Portugal. There are many countries I've been to multiple times, but not to the same city. My list otherwise is
Paris (in childhood and with my own family),
Barcelona (in childhood and for work)
Rasiguieres (multiple times in childhood, my parents used to drive the car to South of France and stay in the same house)
Tamariu (as above but over the border in Spain),
Bangkok,
Singapore
Hong Kong,
Maldives.
We have family in Australia, so these later ones are our stop-off points to break the journey.

JerkintheMerkin · 06/04/2024 08:18

Thailand x 4
Las Vegas x 6
Miami x 2
Greece x 2

Really must find some other places to go. Grin

Floofydawg · 06/04/2024 08:39

Lots - Lanzarote, Tenerife, Florida, Barbados, Turkey, Costa del Sol, Barcelona... There's probably more.
