Sticky, we're doing villas which works out quite cheap if you fly with a budget airline. We're going in school hols (August). We have two DSs and they'll share a room, and DP and I will have the other.

zippitippitoes · 29/03/2008 18:48

i had years without holidays

its only me so in theory i cna go but i cant really afford it

yomellamoHelly · 29/03/2008 18:48

Nr Exeter at the end of this month. Somewhere in Cornwall in July. Four hours and six hours drive away. Bit worried about the six hour drive. Went to Isle of Wight last year. Took 1 1/2 hours to get to ferry terminal and was bliss.

OverMyDeadBody · 29/03/2008 18:50

I've booked a holiday in june.

Cheap as chips.

But I'm not telling every tom dick and harry here where I'm going, I'm keeping it as my little secret, I don't want loads of people booking the same holiday as me!

nappiesgalore · 29/03/2008 18:57

oh im not grumbling. im v lucky to have time/money/freedom to go on holiday or not...

annemarie29 · 29/03/2008 19:03

sorry nappiesgalore.i didn't mean to imply you were grumbling just that you wouldn't be alone in no hols.
in our case dh's bosses refuse to give him paid hols.

We am off to Wales for a week the day after school ends in July.
Self catering 6 berth caravan (only 4 of us) on a working farm in the middle of the North Wales countryside. 3 miles from anywhere! Bliss!!
Oh and only £220 for the week too in peak season!

Clayhead · 29/03/2008 19:20

Northumberland in August.

EmmyLou · 29/03/2008 19:38

2 weeks Newport Pembrokeshire. Our 9th year there...same house etc. God that makes us sound dull. We love it, kids love it and dog loves it. Have had to increase ammount of kit to keep kids happy as get older and now have a couple of sea kayaks and a dinghy.

We have been to other places too - went to Australia a few years ago but still need our fix of windy beaches in Wales.

Bewilderbeast · 29/03/2008 19:57

We are having a bit of a holiday fest this year

We have already done a weeks ski-ing in Jan (took kids out of school doube ).

In whitsun week were are going to Duinrell here Using tesco vouchers for the ferry to keep cost down, but then booked luxury accomadation!! (still all in for 4 of us is £460 for 5 nights inc overnight ferry)

In July we have booked camp bestival festival for a long weekend

In August we are planning to take the kids to Cornwall for a few weeks camping (actually DH will take them I will stay back at home working and join them for a week maybe) This is actually an excuse, we are planning on having a new bathroom fitted and will have no shower/bath or even water for a while and 2 bedrooms will have builders in, so we will go little bodieve It is about £16 a night in high season and just 10 mins from Rock/Polzeth/daymer bay.

LASTLY we are having a long weekend in November for my mums 75th b'day - we are not paying for this I must add! here

SO please don't be mad, it is highly unusual, BUT when adding all together we are still spending under £3000, which is what a lot of families will spend on one trip to Florida!

sophiewd · 29/03/2008 22:04

Hey Crunchie, see you at Bestivale, we live in next door village and have rented our house to the organisers so moving in with parenst for a few days.
