Looking for a last minute trip...

Canary Islands should be nice and warm.

minipie · 14/03/2024 09:16

Seville likely to be warm, maybe not hot but warm

burtonthomas · 14/03/2024 10:36

There are many places like Seville, Canary Islands in the Spain country also Cyprus, Greece, Malta included country.

LolaJ87 · 14/03/2024 10:39

Canaries will be beautiful at this time of year, usually just over 20 degrees in the day. Tenerife is beautiful.

Neurodiversitydoctor · 14/03/2024 10:40

Easter is early this year which makes things more difficult. The very South of Spain might be nice. Otherwise Turkey or one of the Greek Islands ?

MarmaladeOrangey · 14/03/2024 10:42

Maldives!

I really should read the post better before I hit reply! It isn't in Europe but it will be hot. I have been there for as little as 6 nights, I'm used to long haul flying though, just sleep all the way there and back so the flight times aren't so bad.

Back to the original question, I found Kos nice, Easter is quite good as it is before the crowds too.

DaveWatts · 14/03/2024 10:45

The south of Portugal is usually a good bet for sunshine though still a bit chilly for the beach. Also Faro/Olhao not so tourist dependent so things will be open, unlike eg the Greek islands.

MarmaladeOrangey · 14/03/2024 10:46

Madeira is a good choice and I find they are an all year round country rather that seasonal so everything is open.

samarrange · 14/03/2024 10:58

Hot as in "Guaranteed that you will be able to lie on the beach every day and the sea will be warm enough to swim in"? Only the Canaries (and "ackshually" they're geographically part of Africa, but you do pay in Euros). And the sea isn't really all that warm there either at the moment. You'd have to go further south to Cape Verde for that.

In the Mediterranean you might get lucky and have a 23° day, but you might also have 15° max and clouds. A lot of places around the Med aren't even open yet, for precisely that reason. We had a week in Tunisia in mid-April once and it was about 12° every day...

tunmagstvy · 14/03/2024 11:02

Greece won't be hot. It might be sunny but quite often it is raining at Easter.

rooftopbird · 14/03/2024 11:33

Crete

Oakbeam · 14/03/2024 11:39

What do you call “hot”. Few if any places in Europe will be more than the low 20s at Easter. Mildly warm to me. Even the Canaries and Cyprus which aren’t geographically in Europe.

Chewbecca · 14/03/2024 11:43

Nowhere in Europe is 'hot' at Easter by my definition of hot - beach and swimming weather.
Some places might be warm - sitting outside in a T shirt weather - but no guarantee of that either, we have needed coats in canaries, Portugal and Spain at Easter and Greece and Italy are definitely coat weather.
If you want hot hot, you have to fly further.

Chewbecca · 14/03/2024 11:45

Crete is still 7 in the day and 1 overnight at the moment. It isn't going to switch from that to hot in 2 weeks.

rooftopbird · 14/03/2024 12:10

Easter isn't in 2 weeks is it...we're going mid late April end of the Easter hols (plus a few days after school is back) reckon it'll be warmer then.

Erm... Two weeks today is Maundy Thursday, so yes, Easter is in two weeks!

Easter Sunday is 31 March this year. What your local schools decide to call the Easter holidays is up to them.

Chewbecca · 14/03/2024 13:57

Yeah, Easter is early this year.

I have just discovered something odd/interesting about my weather app though, just putting Crete is currently 7 degrees but Chania, Crete and Heraklion, Crete are both high teens. Still not 'hot' but nothing like as chilly as I originally thought.

Sallysoup · 14/03/2024 14:03

Fuerteventura is forecast to be 30° this weekend! We were there in December and had a couple of 25° days and the rest 21/22°. The Canaries seem hotter than average at the minute.

rooftopbird · 14/03/2024 14:16

Yeh ours is a bit later so our hols are from 11th - 18th April, hopefully a bit warmer!

I don't think a high of 7 in the daytime can be right, unless their choice of point to represent Crete is Mount Ida. Most sea-level places in the Mediterranean will have a daily high of at least 10 even on a fourth consecutive cloudy day in January.

Caspianberg · 14/03/2024 14:35

Another option is go to a low down ski resort area. There’s no snow this year low down. We are at 800m and it’s 18 degrees and hot sun in my garden right now in southern alps. Most hotels will have heated pools in and around alps, and lakes lovely at this time of year for walking and cycling. So not 30 degree hot, but heated indoor and outdoor thermal pools, t shirt weather in afternoon if it’s like today, and most will have good offers on as end of snow season/ this year has been pants cold weather wise.

southern France, southern Switzerland, southern Austria, Northern Italy.

mirror245 · 14/03/2024 14:39

We've been to gran canary's past 3 years for Easter and it's been high 20's- low 30's. I've been to lanzarote and furteventura at Easter before but they were both windy. My parents are in southern Spain now and it's 21 degrees. Too cold for me personally to get into sea or pool (unless heated).

3WildOnes · 14/03/2024 14:41

You might get lucky in southern Spain. Crete often has rubbish weather at Easter despite being so southerly.
