Croatia- lovely place 😎

rookiemere · 10/03/2024 16:16

Most places are warm enough in September to still enjoy a beach holiday and majority if places will still be open.
If you want a definite year round resort, Canaries are a good bet.

How warm is 'warm'?

What's your budget?

What would you want to be open?

sleepyscientist · 10/03/2024 16:20

Dubai/RAK or wait a few weeks for the start of the Caribbean season.

Rhodes

I was by Lake Como in early September last year - warm enough to sit with my feet in the water in the evenings while eating a gelato.

Malaga

Aruba was gorgeous in September and so was Mexico .

ASighMadeOfStone · 10/03/2024 16:43

South of Italy will still be roasting. As will Spain.

We've just been looking and are shocked at the prices , are they more expensive this year ? We thought September would be cheaper ?

We were in Majorca mid-September last year and the weather was gorgeous. Plenty warm enough, and the sea was like a warm bath 😁

Package holidays have gone up significantly in price.
easyjet holidays are usually cheaper than Jet2 , or if you wait to book until nearer the time they may be reduced.

We usually go to Greece in mid September and everywhere is still open. We went to Crete last year and it was about 30 most days. No cardigan or jacket needed in the evenings. We ate outside every evening.

We've booked to go to Cyprus this September. As far as I can see everything will be open and it will be hot.

TheArtfulScreamer1 · 10/03/2024 17:38

We've been to Cyprus a few times in October and it's always been lovely and warm.

Look at the August prices and the September ones will look cheap by comparison…

Unfortunately yes everything is more expensive this year

End of September in recent years we've done Sicily, Italian Riviera, Nice, Barcelona, Seville, Lisbon. All lovely. Stuff does tend to start to shut down in the coastal resorts come Oct 1st. Cities less so.

MidtoLon · 10/03/2024 21:31

Have been to Cyprus and Crete at that time and weather lovely

TheBackingSinger · 10/03/2024 21:34

We are in our 60s and went to Mallorca last September. It was considerably hotter than I expected. We plan to go again this year but probably the last week.
Prices look similar to last year, I expect to pay around £2500 for two of us for a week in a 4star hotel HB.

Itscatsallthewaydown · 10/03/2024 21:35

Costa Blanca still very warm until October, and generally a cheaper option. I hate the fucking Canaries personally.

alpinia · 10/03/2024 21:36

Almost every traditional summer holiday location (Med, Islands, Balkans etc) will still be very warm the first couple of weeks of September. So just pick where you fancy and enjoy!

SooticaTheWitchesCat · 12/03/2024 18:47

Turkey is lovely in September. Really warm but not the scorching heat of the summer

alloutofcareunits · 12/03/2024 18:50

We went to Gran Canaria the first week in October last year and it hit 41deg one day! Canaries will be very warm in September, most typical summer holiday resorts should still be warm then

Scottishskifun · 12/03/2024 18:54

If your flexible then wait til 3 weeks before they dramatically come down in price!

Pick an adults only/self catering or small boat type of thing if you don't want lots of young kids about though. We always go away in September as no school aged children and its not too mega hot for them! Last place we went in Greece there were some shell shocked pensioners to how many under 5s there were!

RubiesandRose · 12/03/2024 19:11

Another vote for Cyprus, other European destinations can be warm but September starts to get a bit hit and miss for them, whereas Cyprus is still lovely in October.

Isthiscorrect · 12/03/2024 19:48

Cyprus. Turkey. Greek islands. Oman. UAE. Balerics.
But 2nd week September is expensive. Everyone who wants to holiday without kids is going then. Try October before half term.
