Canaries or Egypt

I've now narrowed October half term down to Egypt or Canaries as want to guarantee weather as much as possible and be in area that not shutting down for end of season.
Question :: 1 - Is there any problems with mosquitos in either of these areas
2- Family with teenage children, (want boat trips, jumping off in sea) would you choose Sharm El Sheikh or Harghada ? tis

Not been to Egypt and never would but I've been to all the Canary islands at all times of year and never had a mozzie problem.

No mozzies in the Canaries but the sea is cold (Atlantic) so sea activities are not as nice as they would be in Egypt. I love the Caribbean and Indian Ocean but can’t get in the water in the Canaries.

I have never been to Egypt so can’t comment on resorts, it really doesn’t appeal to me.

I’d go with the canaries for sure, I think the travel advice for safe travel to Egypt could change at the drop of a hat at the moment!

I would always choose Egypt but only Luxor rather than the Red Sea resorts. I do love Fuerteventura as well, and the weather should still be reliable at that time, although not as good as Egypt.

Been to the canaries maybe 7 times and had mosquitos the last time at night. they were tiny, evil little bastards. normally its too windy i guess.

I personally am concerned about security in Egypt, it's a fast moving situation so would be wary about booking so far ahead

Even if the holiday was free I wouldn’t go to Egypt.

Usually the canaries are mozzie free but I was bitten last time in Tenerife.

Very little to do in Sharm other than snorkelling and diving.

Hurghada is better in terms of more to do - we did trip to Luxor, valley of the kings which was genuinely amazing.

Sharm is for around the pool people and divers only (the diving is good, we went back for years)

No mozzies either place.

For watersports in canaries I see people wearing wetsuits so don’t worry about that. Lots to do/explore. I’ve swum all year - it can be fresh when you get in but ok after a minute - you’ll see lots of people swimming at October

Have you considered Cyprus?

I’ve been eaten alive in both places.

Canaries. I had terrible dysentery for 5 months after Sharm El Sheik

Never mind the mozzie, at the moment I just would not consider going to Egypt!

Never been bitten once in canaries and i was eaten alive in cyprus.
I hated egypt and would never gp back. Probably ok if you go to a huge resort and never leave but even then id chose canaries for same price. Cleaner, safer, easier.

Canaries, nothing would persuade me to visit Egypt ever again.

Cyprus? We went in October and it was 30+ and still busy without being horrendous

Don't know anyone who's been to Egypt and not (at the very least) had the shits.

To me that's not much of a holiday.

I would have never have gone to Egypt if you paid me before hand, much less now. I think I would feel sick to the stomach laying on a beach with food and drink nearby whilst knowing what is happening only a few miles away. Stick to the canaries.

We went to Lanzarote last October and swam in the sea and I’m a wuss! No mozzies there or in Tenerife which we’ve been to before.

People who are anti Egypt (aside from the current situation) why?

I have been to Egypt a few times (sharm, dahab, hurghada annd marsa alam) and it’s great if you want an all inclusive resort holiday or a diving holiday (or combination of the two). These were the holidays I did so can’t comment on other types .

I would choose Egypt, but it would be for ancient sites, not beaching.

If I wanted beach I would go for Canaries.
