Where would you honeymoon in this situation

5 kids between us. Second marriage. Lucky to have a good budget. Don't mind flights up to 10ish hours from London. Love all food, little bars and adventure. But wouldn't mind two nights of luxury as part of a 5 night trip (kids mean we can't stay for longer). Don't really want Nordic, Caribbean, US (just because we've done that a lot) or anything we would normally do as a family. Something more exciting ..... GO ......

Sicily!
taormina (stay in Four Seasons for the luxury nights) then Catania (Etna)
or Palermo and Cefalu

I sound like such a spoilt brat but we did Sicily last year (for a wedding). It was perfect I loved it.

Haha

last try - Italian Alps, Virgilius Mountain Resort or Miramonti Boutique Hotel
beautiful mountains and views, amazing food, quaint towns

fly to Verona or Innsbruck

Have you been to Puglia? I ask because that's on my wish list! Also Sardinia.

And PP have mentioned lovely places in Spain, how about Grenada/Seville?

mitogoshi · 31/01/2024 21:29

I'd go for a really nice hotel rather than long haul if only for 5 days. Taormina Sicily is a suggestion, it's where the Italian film awards are held.

EasterIssland · 31/01/2024 21:32

Santorini?

castawave · 31/01/2024 21:34

How old are your children?

Sonora25 · 31/01/2024 21:35

St Tropez and Monaco?

crew2022 · 31/01/2024 21:38

Sorrento: there are some amazing hotels. Capris? A bit of luxury and a short plane trip.

beetr00 · 31/01/2024 21:41

Tuscany?

Katy4321 · 31/01/2024 21:46

Cape Verde islands. Visit 2 islands with your five days - hike Fogo volcano island. Visit either the capitol Praia or mindelo. Seek out little bars for music or go for music festival, carnival or new year, to see party life.

autienotnaughty · 31/01/2024 21:49

Italian lakes and maybe Venice

Yes .... we are thinking this might make more sense

I went to Cape Town for three nights at Table Bay Hotel and two nights on the plane. It was fabulous, I’d been before on a longer trip so I knew my way around.

How about Cyprus, maybe in a five star hotel in or around Paphos?

3-14. Why do you ask?

A fabulous hotel in the European alps. You could get a train from the airport and start the holiday with stunning views.

Mumaway · 31/01/2024 21:59

Vietnam, Thailand, Japan

SquishyGloopyBum · 31/01/2024 21:59

A boat tour of Croatian islands starting in Dubrovnik and ending in Split.

For five nights? I’ve done some crazy trips but I don’t think I’d be up for one of those suggestions?

TheTripThatWasnt · 31/01/2024 22:01

Madeira is amazing... if you stay away from cruise-ship central and Saga-hotel-tasic Funchal!
It's possible to avoid both of those in Funchal, but the hotel in Calheta mentioned by a PP is amazing - we stayed a couple of nights there a few years ago.

But for some reason it doesn't feel like a honeymoon destination to me. I'd go for somewhere like Tuscany - a luxury hotel in Florence/Siena, and a couple of nights in a posh Agrotourismo. Or Seville. Or somewhere like Biarritz.
Or Mallorca - there are loads of amazing boutique hotels there - in the lovely mountain villages, not the coastal hotspots.

Because I'm trying to think of age appropriate honeymoon destinations ( presuming your children are going with you?) that would work with children of different ages.
For instance I went to Thailand last year with my teenagers, and I would highly recommend the region we visited, however I'm not sure it would be the best place for young 3year old toddlers.

Similarly I could recommend a fantastic resort in The Canary Islands that had a fabulous kids club for the younger under 10's, but I'm not sure would be suitable for teenagers.

I wasnt just being nosy. Just trying to put some thought into my responses

Sorry, above reply was in response to:

Sorry I think I badly worded my OP. Kids are absolutely not invited! 5 nights because that's as long as grandparents can have them. Thank you though!
