Family friendly hotel/resort in UAE or Qatar

We are looking to maybe holiday in either the UAE or Qatar and would like to stay on a beach near lots of child-friendly days out for young children. We don't want to be in a huge hotel or very busy area so probably not Dubai? Can anyone recommend anywhere.

MNHQ update: If you’re short on time, here’s a summary of the best hotels Mumsnetters are recommending on this thread:

😎The St. Regis Doha

😎Hilton Abu Dhabi Yas Island

😎The WB Abu Dhabi

Not sure if it’s family friendly but I stayed at St Regis Doha which was beyond stunning. Would highly recommend.

Yas Island, UAE - think you are best flying into Abu Dhabi.

I don't know Qatar well, but Oman is wonderful. We had a fabulous holiday there with forts and beaches.

Equally, I have many happy memories of Bahrain. But that might just be it was a wonderful escape from where we were living!.

Not done Qatar yet but we loved Abu Dhabi - stayed at the Hilton Yas Island and and the Warner Brothers hotel. They’re great family friendly resorts and you get free access to Yas waterworld, Warner Bros, Ferrari World and included with your stay. The Atlantis in Dubai is also good but it’s very, very busy.

IMO avoid Qatar.
