Favourite premier inn?

Hi, I’m keen to plan in a couple of 2/3 day UK budget breaks for 2024. It would be for me, DH and 2 kids (ages 6 and 1). We like premier inn breaks as we know exactly what to
expect, and in particular we like the Whitley Bay one for its great location. Have been a few times now tho so interested to hear of any other good premier inns for a short break with kids. We are in Scotland, so prefer to stick to Scotland or the north of England just to save a long drive.

thanks!

This may be too close to home, but my favourite is In Edinburgh!

I’ve stayed at Rose Street and Haymarket - both good but Rose Street edges it due to the lounge and the awesome porridge (£5 unlimited breakfast food is amazing value too). Location could not be more central!

Aviemore. It's pretty new - opened just a couple of years ago - so feels very modern and clean. It's walking distance to the village centre with all its restaurants and shops, and there is a lovely Italian place just across the road. It's got a decent size car park and it's really easy to get to all the local outdoor activities from there. We've stayed there a few times now, including using it as a stop-off on the long drive to the far north-west.

We liked the one in Margate. All rooms have a view of the sea and you can go by short train journeys to Whitstable and Canterbury,

Dolphinbus · 10/12/2023 22:08

Oh thank you! The Edinburgh ones are too close to home unfortunately. Margate is a little far but it does look great. Aviemore is a great idea, had no idea about that one, think we will book it. Thanks 🙏

We liked Dover. And Weston Super Mare.

HundredAcreOwl · 10/12/2023 22:13

Dundee, Tay Waterfront one 🙂

scrivette · 10/12/2023 22:21

Brighton because of the location, 5 minute walk to the sea or the high street and 30 second walk to the Lanes. It's on a main road of the high street but I haven't ever found it noisy even when staying in one of the front rooms of the hotel.
The staff are always exceptionally friendly too.

Cookerhood · 10/12/2023 22:30

Dover, Weston Super Mare & Brighton aren't really Scotland or the north as requested in the OP!

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 10/12/2023 22:33

We liked the one in Newcastle we stayed in last year. It's in a former department store and pretty central. I really liked Newcastle as a base for a short stay.

We actually liked the one at Glasgow Quay. Our room looked across the Clyde and it was a nice wee walk across the river etc. Easy access to Glasgow.

Perth is also a nice one. And Aviemore looked nice although not actually stayed there.

Lol, oops 😂 I was just answering the question in the title! I'll try and read posts better before I answer 😆

The one up by the Pleasure Beach in Blackpool. There's an amazing sit in chippy just a couple of minutes walk from it and its handy for the Pleasure Beach and water park.

Berwick and Alnwick would both be nice if you fancy the North East again. Cockermouth, Penrith or Keswick for the Lakes. Pickering for North York Moors.

We loved our stay at The Gate in Newcastle. Fabulous building.

Also would recommend the Albert Dock one in Liverpool. It's an amazing building too with massive rooms.

+1 to the Premier Inn in Dundee on the water. Try to get a room with a view of the water. It’s beautiful. It’s literally around the block from the train station too if you want to skip driving.

There’s a new-ish one by the river in Inverness.

I love a premier inn too 😂

We stayed in one years ago in Chester I think. It was brilliant as it had bunk beds round the corner to the main bedroom. Still fully connected, no doors etc but kids were slightly separate which meant we could relax more.

Liverpool Albert Dock - heritage building and so much to do and see within walking distance.

Singleandproud · 11/12/2023 23:24

We stayed in one in Glasgow (10 min walk to Science centre) the room was fine and location was great for transport links but the food was shocking it's hard to imagine messing up Premier Inn food but I don't think we had anything remotely good or even ok. Everything was either over cooked or stuff like churros still raw in the middle. Waiting staff were quite rude too although front desk was great and super helpful.

My favourite is Stratford in London although Richmond is pretty good too although a trek from Scotland.

Whiskeypowers · 11/12/2023 23:34

Scarborough north bay one is good

caringcarer · 11/12/2023 23:43

My favourite is the one at Fort William. They do the loveliest scrambled eggs. Not hard or dry.
