Favourite premier inn?

Hi, I’m keen to plan in a couple of 2/3 day UK budget breaks for 2024. It would be for me, DH and 2 kids (ages 6 and 1). We like premier inn breaks as we know exactly what to
expect, and in particular we like the Whitley Bay one for its great location. Have been a few times now tho so interested to hear of any other good premier inns for a short break with kids. We are in Scotland, so prefer to stick to Scotland or the north of England just to save a long drive.

thanks!

My favourites include one in Lincoln City centre and the one at Pickering. With the latter we did the castle and the moors, Flamingo Land and day trip to the coast. My favourite though might be the one on the dock at Hartlepool. There is a lovely little art gallery in Hartlepool plus HMS Trincomalee moored in a Georgian Navy base and a museum.

Most recently we stayed in one on the outskirts of Newcastle (Holystone) and did Lilledorei at Alnwick on the way home (also Scotland) which my two absolutely loved. The staff were lovely to the kids and breakfast was great.

Although we usually stay in multiple Premier Inns per year and we've never had an issue.

Thanks for all the responses, we will need to work our way through them :)

Will save the “down south” ideas in case we are ever down that way.

🙏

We actually liked the one at Glasgow Quay. Our room looked across the Clyde and it was a nice wee walk across the river etc. Easy access to Glasgow.

Perth is also a nice one. And Aviemore looked nice although not actually stayed there.

We love the Glasgow Pacific Quay too. Cheap parking with a code from Reception and there is a bus stop just across the road.

The new one in Keswick is good, it's all sparkly new, though parking is extra and limited on spaces, park at the pencil museum across the road instead. It's walking distance to town for food in the evening and to pencil museum and puzzling place. It's also close to all the northern fells for walking and to a good few sites for non-walking activities. We usually walk when we go, but I'm thinking Aira force, Ullswater steamer, Lowther castle, Carlisle castle, Mirehouse, to name but a few. Not too far from Southern Scotland either.

Thumbs up for the one in York, we walked to the railway museum and into the centre easily, really well situated.

We've also stayed at the Aviemore one and it's very well located opposite the italian that's been there forever as you enter town. Food was limited, it's not got the classic big attached pub, just an open plan area beside reception, but it's very new so the rooms are in good condition. And plenty nicer places to eat in walking distance.

Would York be a sensible distance? I stayed at Blossom Street North and it was good for walking to the city wall just a couple of minutes away then maybe 10/15 minutes to the cathedral and city centre.

Also would recommend the Albert Dock one in Liverpool. It's an amazing building too with massive rooms.

Another vote for this one. It's great, interesting rooms and a central location.

Lichfield was lovely. Just a standard Premier Inn but the staff were exceptionally helpful and kind. Actually everyone was unusually lovely in Lichfield.

Matlock is a great location in the Peak District

Loving this thread😊

I wouldn't go back to the Albert Dock one - it's a great location and interesting building, but a lot of the rooms don't have external windows, and the walls were so thin that I could hear the slap of flesh on flesh as the couple next door had sex! 🤢

This is a bit like asking what your favourite strain of Ebola is.

Shouldn’t you be elsewhere whinging about the 20% VAT being added to school fees?
Heaven forbid, you might have to cut Jeeves’ hours too! 🙄
