We’ve done Rome, Paris, Prague, Amsterdam, Salzburg. We want to do a long weekend in February and want to fly. Total budget around £1000 for 2 of us. We’re not interested in war museums. It needs to be somewhere that isn’t hilly. Where would you recommend? Thanks in advance.

Vienna, Budapest, Berlin, Munich, Krakow, Warsaw, Gdansk, Seville, Madrid, Barcelona for starters

Dalhoussie · 26/10/2023 07:51

Berlin? Copenhagen? February is a good time to visit Venice

dicedicebaby · 26/10/2023 08:13

Seville, Cadiz

Beachywave · 26/10/2023 08:17

Krakow is very flat and loads to do there.

I visited Porto & Barcelona in February... absolutely LOVED Porto!

MissAmbrosia · 26/10/2023 09:38

Seville, Malaga, Barcelona, Lisbon, Budapest, Nice

GettingStuffed · 26/10/2023 15:20

Krakow, we went for valentine's day and managed to get a 5* hotel for next to nothing.

Specialcovidname · 26/10/2023 17:07

Barcelona and Budapest are both great. I liked Venice but not as much as the first two. Malaga/ Granada is also nice if you want the chance of a bit of sunshine

cptartapp · 26/10/2023 17:12

Done quite a few.
Seville is my favourite. It was in the low 20s when we went one New Year.

professionalnomad · 28/10/2023 18:06

Sarajevo, Vilnius and Riga

Mytholmroyd · 28/10/2023 18:18

Maastricht, Haarlem and Antwerp are worth a visit and flat!

chocolateisavegetable · 28/10/2023 19:57

Thank you for all the great suggestions. I am working my way through and doing some research

Saint Petersburg

DoctorMartin · 28/10/2023 21:46

Faro or Palma are nice short and cheap flights, lovely food and weather will be nice in February.

Saint Petersburg

That might be difficult if not impossible currently - the Foreign Office is advising against all travel to Russia.

Mrsjrewing3 · 28/10/2023 22:25

Copenhagen - had an amazing time!

I think if you are able to overcome some political prejudices Saint Petersburg is by far more interesting then Maastricht, Haarlem or Antwerp. I've been there a few years ago for a weekend and enjoyed it enormously, a true European cultural jewel.

Don’t come to Berlin in February. It’s the worst month for weather. Apart from November. They’re both disgusting. At least February used to be decently cold, but global warming has done a right number on that and now it’s just miserable. Go somewhere either much colder and further north (Norway?), or way further south.

Mytholmroyd · 29/10/2023 12:08

I am sure it is @Martin83 but is there any possibility of the OP being allowed/able to go in February given Russia is at war?

I have been to several fascinating places in Russia through my job but could you even get a visa now?

I’m doing a joint Ghent and Bruges trip shortly. So can’t really recommend them yet as might be rubbish but they look beautiful.

dicedicebaby · 30/10/2023 06:21

Oooh, I forgot Lyon!

Muddle2000 · 01/11/2023 11:26

Krakow Good value but Florence is more romantic

They're both beautiful, especially Ghent in my opinion. Have a great trip.

If you don't mind chilly Helsinki is lovely

ladeluge · 03/11/2023 18:19

I'd recommend Malaga (the city, not the resorts), and a day trip from there to Granada or Cordoba.

Cheeseandlobster · 03/11/2023 18:31

We loved Vilnius. Its really walkable and so pretty
