Hi all, my 11 year old has told me he would like our next holiday to be in either Portugal or Turkey.

I am looking myself but i need it to be on the beach - literally beachfront and very close to the airport. For august next year.

All inclusive is fine although I do find it gets a bit claustrophobic after a few days so I dont mind breakfast only then venture out in the evenings for dinner.

If anyone has recommendations, Id be grateful. Beach front and close to airport. Thank you

Oh shut up. I put it in holidays and i struggle all year to afford a big holiday each august for a disabled child - hence why i like to be close to airport incase he becomes unwell, he wont have a long transfer. Thank you though

Just to appease @Peregrine93 please noone ever mention having a non disabled child as it may offend people who have disabled ones. What a fucking fun sponge you are.

How long a transfer would you be happy with?

portugalvsturkey · 21/09/2023 09:15

Up to about 15 minutes @cherryassam which i know is a stretch for Turkey. I would prefer Turkey as I speak fluent turkish and feel more comfortable if he needed to go to hospital etc.

TUI Magic life masmavi in Antalya Turkey I stayed in May and it was great beach front hotel.

Paloma Orenda in Turkey looks fab too depends on your budget.

I stayed at Be live Palmeria in Portugal as it was cheap but it only had a couple of waterside but I loved the short flight and the beach

portugalvsturkey · 21/09/2023 09:17

@Uggtrending was Masmavi a short transfer? We had a long tranfer last year and he was unwell, it was awful so really stresses me out.

There’s no need to be so rude. What I said has nothing to do with a child being disabled or not.

I didn’t realise it was in holidays as it just came up on my feed and I don’t follow that topic.

You should just know a lot of us haven’t been on holiday since covid and have no chance of being able to afford it anytime soon so you should maybe think about that

anothercupparosytea · 21/09/2023 09:17

What would be the point of the Holidays topic @Peregrine93 if no one is allowed to post about holidays? Hmm

I can't really help with resort recommendations OP although I highly recommend the Algarve - the beaches are magnificent!

portugalvsturkey · 21/09/2023 09:19

I love the look of Portugal, it all just comes down to transfer times tbh. He loves the sea and sand so again why I need it to be beachfront is so we can get back to our room really quickly if he becomes unwell.

portugalvsturkey · 21/09/2023 09:24

@Peregrine93 honestly just piss off. i didnt holiday for 6 years due to my childs illness. now i feel brave enough to do it because he has suited medication and some idiot on here decides im not allowed. i work and save and this is what my child wants to do. hide the thread and go about your day.

Uggtrending · 21/09/2023 09:28

@portugalvsturkey you can get a private transfer don't let that put you off your perfect hotel. I use the coach that Tui provide but it's pot luck on the way back it's quicker. Getting dropped off at your is usually longer because everyone is getting off the plane and then you have to wait for the entire coach to get their suitcases.

portugalvsturkey · 21/09/2023 09:30

Thank you @Uggtrending i am looking at it as i type

Lara beach in Turkey had the shortest transfer from Antalya Airport. Check out Royal wings Hotel OP.

portugalvsturkey · 21/09/2023 09:31

@Uggtrending direct transfer is an hour ☹️ no can do

OP posts:
cherryassam · 21/09/2023 09:32

Lara Beach is close to Antalya airport - definitely go for a private transfer and most of these are within 15-20 mins.

Beachfront hotels in Lara Beach:

Delphin BE Grand
Delphin Diva Premiere
Delphin Imperial
Delphin Palace
Concorde Deluxe
Fame Residence
IC Hotels Green Palace
Limak Lara
Miracle Resort
Titanic Deluxe Lara

OP, you don't need to justify yourself. This is the Holidays topic, the whole point of it is to post about holidays Hmm

I can't help with Turkey, but Tavira in Portugal is lovely. Gorgeous beaches and lots of little restaurants and cafes. Plenty to do without being too busy.

portugalvsturkey · 21/09/2023 09:33

@Uggtrending @cherryassam thank you both, that region seems to be 15-20 mins which is fine. Lots to look up now, thank you both

Lara Beach has some great hotels but it is very expensive. Good facilities though as the hotels are top notch. What other things are you looking for?

@LittleGreenDuck Thank you. I was really taken aback tbh. I find it hard to see children with no illnesses but I dont berate people about it.

Thank you for the portugal recommendation. Looking up now.

Oh do fuck off. It's in holidays section. Newsflash - not everyone is struggling.

OP I am looking at Portugal too so following.

cherryassam · 21/09/2023 09:40

Faro Airport is a bit awkwardly located for short transfers

You could have a look at Praia de Faro where there are some small hotels / B&Bs

Peregrine93 · 21/09/2023 09:41

What job do you do OP?

Besides beachfront and short transfer I am relatively easy going. I do usually only pick 4\5* now as I have stayed in some not nice places and it ruined the holiday. Ive budgeted 3k (would love some left over of course) but its my sons wish to travel now he can, so no expense spared if its worth it.
