Have you heard from or contacted your holiday company yet? What are you thinking of doing? Need to check insurance to see if wild fires covered. Feeling really worried as our kids are so looking forward to this trip, it's the first time we've been abroad and booked it over a year ago. But obviously don't want to risk anything.

I’m not sure what to do either. When are you flying? I’m not due to fly until the 6th.

We are due to go in the next few days. Rather concerned about going now as the situation can change so quickly. Dh purchased the insurance.

We all have different insurance as there is 7 of us going 🙈 wish I hadn’t done that now

Im supposed to be going with my girls in a couple of weeks but it's pretty off-putting to say the least. It may well have calmed down by then . who knows. I think insurance wont cover you to cancel unless the airlines stop flying there like they have in Rhodes.

From what I’ve read I think you are right @kkkrose1 ive just passed the option to cancel as well.

We're supposed to be going on Saturday. I think we'll have to cancel tbh but not sure what our insurance is like

They’ve started evacuating from some
areas. Our friends are currently in Alykes (just outside Corfu town, they can see the cruise ships from their room) and they’ve posted pictures of the fires they can see from the hotel beach but have been told so far there is no danger to them. Probably depends where you’re going. It’s a big island.

I've got the same concerns about Zante! It seems to be spreading, can't believe I'm saying this but it needs to rain, soon!

I’ve just checked our travel insurance and it seems that insurance will cover up to £1250 per person if as a result of fire the FCO change travel advice to advise against all but essential travel within 50 miles of the chosen destination.

We’re flying on Friday and staying in Ipsos.

The FCO haven’t changed any guidance yet have they? Not seen it for Rhodes who have had this for a week or so already

There a regular updates on the BBC news app. They have announced Corfu is down to arson and mostly under control now. The mayor has said he expects it to be over soon.

From the Corfu forums I belong to it looks as if they’re getting the Corfu fire under control. So fingers crossed it will be out soon.

I'm going in a few weeks and keeping my eye on the situation. Corfu is a big island and at the moment only a small area is affected. Supposedly there was a warning over the weekend there might be some 'copycat' fires started.

I can’t believe it would be arson . Sounds strange . Maybe to reassure tourists do they don’t abort .

@kkkrose1 - major fires always seem to provoke arsonists, it isn’t hard to believe at all sadly.

We go on the 3rd, we are going to a villa on the north east. I'm worried. I am on a few Facebook pages and there are fire pictures again tonight.

It does look like it flared up overnight again. They are sending helicopters over with buckets regularly from the beach near us. I’d still say there’s no more smoke than yesterday though, and yesterday honestly was fine. We can smell it slightly for the first time today. We are in Acharavi, the Roda end.
