Cheap beach break

Looking to go away for a cheap beach break with my 15 year old DD - maybe 2 nights. A Sandy beach is a must and it needs to be somewhere we can get to quickly (so maybe 2-3 hrs travel). What destinations should I be looking at? We don't normally do beach holidays hence I don't know

Where are you travelling from?

chopc · 03/07/2023 08:14

Anywhere in London

Does it have to be a sandy beach? If not, then Malta is amazingly convenient for an emergency sun and sea holiday. You don't even need outlet adapters. Nice sea views, sightseeing, etc.

Fivemoreminutes1 · 03/07/2023 08:21

Uk or abroad?

Coffeetree · 03/07/2023 08:32

Sorry, just quickly posting on train and clocked yiur requirement for sandy beach!!!!

There are some sandy beaches on Malta, so.

Icedlatteplease · 03/07/2023 08:33

Malaga spain

JoeLovesGina · 03/07/2023 08:34

Norfolk has fabulous sandy beaches. Great Yarmouth is very tacky but has amusements etc.

Cromer is smaller but lovely as is Sheringham.

Wells and brancaster and thereabouts are all a bit posh and therefore very expensive.

Easily doable from London.

EggInANest · 03/07/2023 08:37

Do you mean by plane?

Or train?

Or can you drive there?

Train in the UK, look at Camber Sands - there are holiday / caravan parks there. Or Broadstairs: cheerful resort town, would need to look for a B&B maybe.

Train or Driving: Bournemouth.

Driving: Old Hunstanton in N Norfolk has a couple of holiday parks.

EggInANest · 03/07/2023 08:39

Cromer and Sheringham accessible by train but pebbles at high tide. Mundesley is sandy, taxi from North Walsham 4 miles away and there are caravan / holiday parks there.

Beach holiday I automatically thought of abroad but I forgot about camber sands. It's actually a day trip from where I am so we can pick a nice day and rock up

I was thinking of Europe - so a short flight

Majorca, 3 nights would be a lot better than 2.

Littlehampton

chopc · 03/07/2023 20:45

@FarTooHotForMe as in cheaper?

What's your budget?

chopc · 04/07/2023 06:01

For two nights - ideally under £1000. But can stretch to more

FarTooHotForMe as in cheaper

As in it will feel a lot longer. A two night trip by plane will be pretty tiring, arriving at the airport two hours before the flight, the flight and then the transfer, one day with no travel
and then the journey back. If you find a good value hotel it won’t cost that much more to add a night as the flight and transfer is the same and your trip will fell a lot longer.
Two nights in the UK would work if you stick to your two/three night away brief.
For £1000 you’ll easily get a three night break for two.

FiftyNotNifty · 04/07/2023 09:28

Alicante! Sandy beach short flight very short transfer. Bliss!

QforCucumber · 04/07/2023 09:59

@chopc definitely something like Alicante, we're doing 4 nights in March All Inclusive for £500pp. Booked via Ryanair. lunchtime Thursday travel out and 6pm Monday arrive home.

Chocbuttonsandredwine · 04/07/2023 10:08

You could easily do a nice beach break for under £1k.

To maximise time you don’t want to be travelling too far.

Palma
Malaga (my fav)
Barcelona
Sicily
Valencia
Tavira (2nd fav)

chopc · 04/07/2023 12:37

chopc · 08/07/2023 10:26

So I have been looking at the destinations and struggling to find something for less than £1000. Where do you guys look ?

Intemperatefatty · 08/07/2023 14:05

Holidays are very expensive this year so you might find that your budget doesn’t go as far as it used to.

QforCucumber · 08/07/2023 14:06

4 nights in Alicante in September under 500 pp

QforCucumber · 08/07/2023 14:08

Love holidays - i put all Spain as the destination and any north east airport to fly from.
