whiteroseredrose · 08/02/2023 22:59

Hopefully going to Mexico in December for our 25th wedding anniversary.

Then over the next few years (hopefully pre retirement):

Costa Rica
Vietnam
Jordan
Egypt
South Africa

Immediately on retirement, while we still have energy:

Australia
New Zealand
Trans Siberian Express (depends on politics)
Vancouver and bear watching

Wiennetta · 09/02/2023 08:22

Yunnan, China
Transiberian (like @whiteroseredrose depending on politics)
Patagonia
Mongolia
Hokkaido (explored the other main islands but not Hokkaido yet!)
Yucutan Peninsula

Happygone · 09/02/2023 08:28

Maldives
Colombia
Isles of Scilly

RampantIvy · 09/02/2023 08:36

Crossing the Rockies by train
Cruise up the coast of Alaska
Bernina Express
Cruise up the Norwegian coast
any Greek island

And right now, just jetting off somewhere warm and sunny will do for now. I haven't left the country since 2019.

BarrelOfOtters · 09/02/2023 08:41

In order, I do a lot of thinking about this..

japan (crossed fingers this year in autumn)
Vietnam long trip with train, boats etc.
Sicily short break
bavarian alps in winter…also train to Vienna and Prague
scandanavia….nicer been, want to wander around on ferries and stay on islands
northern lights trip
north west Scotland in May in a camper van
Chile
southern Italy

Phos · 09/02/2023 08:55

My bucket list used to be massive but my wanderlust has diminished loads recently. I suppose I’d like to do Maldives, probably twice as I’d like to do it as a family and just as a couple. I’d also love to go back to Croatia. We had an awesome holiday there back in about 2015 and would love to go back but to do the same holiday via the same company now would cost us £4000 per person for a week not including flights! I know it can still be done much more cheaply, just a shame because that trip was really really good.

iusedtobeasize8 · 09/02/2023 09:02

readingismycardio · 09/02/2023 09:37

In no particular order:
Cuba
Argentina
India
Peru
Japan

WarningToTheCurious · 09/02/2023 09:39

Route 66
Japan
New Zealand
Patagonia

DC is currently in Colombia but the temperature, humidity and extremely high UV is a bit off putting - Factor 110 sun cream anyone?

MissAmbrosia · 09/02/2023 10:36

Dubrovnik
Montenegro
San Sebastian
Matera
Lots of Southern Italy - Puglia, Sicily etc.
Bergen, Fram and the Norwegian fjords.
Ferry between Stockholm, Helsinki and Talinn - used to go to St Petersburg but as per pp - not at the moment.
I'd like to have managed every European country before I die - and only have a few still to do. I am not a big fan of flying though and long haul trips do not appeal.

magicstar1 · 09/02/2023 11:14

I've been lucky enough to do most of my bucket list

Maldives
Great Barrier Reef
Monument Valley
Graceland

I still have Route 66 (hopefully going to do that for DH's 50th next year)
Iceland to see the Northern Lights

karamazing · 09/02/2023 13:42

Frustratingly, I have now added Tasmania to my bucket list. It is not exactly a short break destination. In fact it is more punishing than a standard long haul and I knew that I should have done it when out in Oz. I also feel the same way about Hawaii. Besides those, I have done my bucket list but there are places on there I would happily visit every month for the rest of my life so they are never really "ticked off".

AvonCallingBarksdale · 09/02/2023 20:59

We went to Colombia last august and it was amazing!!
My holiday bucket list is
Japan
Norway for northern lights
Mauritius
Amalfi Coast

Constellar · 09/02/2023 22:29

Costa Rica
Japan
Chile & Peru
India
South Korea

The time has passed for me to visit some other places I’d always dreamed of eg Lebanon, Eritrea. I was lucky enough to go to St Petersburg in 2017 which was amazing.

loveinthe90s · 09/02/2023 22:33

That dreamy hotel in White Lotus 🪷

madamepresident · 09/02/2023 22:39

Bora Bora
Oaxaca, Mexico
Would go back to Sri Lanka any day of the week
Southern Italy

WoolyMammoth55 · 09/02/2023 22:52

Realise how lucky I am reading these: I rode the trans-Siberian express as a teen on a school trip! DH proposed under the northern lights in north Finland, we did our honeymoon in Japan (and then went back 3 years later as loved it so much!) Also loved Cuba, Sardinia, Brunei/Borneo. Spent a fun 6 months hanging out between NYC/San Diego/Miami/upstate NY.

I've been to India a few times but to the same place to see friends; I'd like to visit the Himalayas and generally see more. I'd love to visit Sri Lanka and Nepal.

Australia and NZ are definitely on my bucket list. I'd love to visit Costa Rica and Namibia/Botswana for eco-tourism (and safari!).

We had an Iceland holiday cancelled during Covid so I know DH would love it if we got that back in the diary! Also definitely planning on re-doing Japan and northern lights once the kids are big enough... :)

Love travelling and am so glad we can do it again <3

minipie · 09/02/2023 22:55

Ooh loads

San Sebastian
Tanzania
Japan
Australia
New Zealand

Chile
Various lesser known Greek islands

Would like to return to:
India
Mexico
South Africa
Cambodia
Thailand
Borneo
Guatemala

I would love to see the Northern Lights but it’s not guaranteed and I hate the cold so not sure it will ever seem worth the trip!

ChatSamosa · 09/02/2023 22:59
