You have 2.5k for a 7/8 day honeymoon - where do you go?

Just that really. Married DH last year and have 2.5k/3k for a kids free honeymoon for 7days ish. Both 30's - parents have offered to look after our children when we're away. However as we're so busy with jobs/kids we haven't looked into it properly! Would still like some luxury/culture if possible on that budget! Want sunshine and not UK...please help!

We also have around 900 quid in BA vouchers in addition to 2.5k that we have to use by the end of September that we'd like to use towards it too!

Mexico

We do Mauritius every few years in a 5* hotel for one week for just less than that, it's paradise. 11h30 direct flight with BA, favourite hotel is Lux le Morne but Lux Grand baie, Constance Maurice also fabulous.

If not, I'd look at the Maldives, South Africa, Seychelles, potentially Thailand too

It seems a long way on paper but there's barely any time difference which really helps.

We did new York for ours in 2016 and loved it! 😍

Vietnam. We used Freedom Asia. Stunningly beautiful countrym amazing food. and once you're there everything is ridiculously cheap. Really luxurious hotels.

PizzaPastaWine · 27/01/2023 09:59

Fly to Istanbul, 4 nights there. 3 nights in Cappadocia.

I wouldn't want to go too far/jet lag for only a week so I agree Italy is amazing. Croatia is also beautiful. I also loved Lisbon if you fancy a city break.

Is it the Surin. It's my favourite place on earth!

But a little far for a week maybe

I've been loving the White Lotus second series. So my vote goes to Sicily. Stunning scenery and culture. The best food. And only a three hour flight.

We were watching White Lotus so I googled the hotel it is set in. €2,300 per night for the cheapest room! 😲

Lots of nice places nearby for more sensible prices though.

Oh I was going to suggest Croatia. I'd go to Rovinj and stay at that amazing spa hotel on the water overlooking Rovinj.

Talking of America, we did Chicago-Memphis-New Orleans by train. It was fantastic and three very different cities.

PizzaPastaWine · 27/01/2023 14:45

Croatia is a good option.

I'd fly to Dubrovnik, 5 nights on an island called Sipan staying at Hotel Bozica.

Then finish with 2 nights in Dubrovnik, staying within the city walls.

Did you even seen the OP's budget? You think 2-3k would get you a holiday in the Maldives? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

LeCarre · 28/01/2023 10:18

Italy, definitely

YahYahadahling · 28/01/2023 10:21

As someone who has been to a fair few of the places suggested by others on this post.

Safari - budget not enough for Kenya.

Mauritius - lovely island. But too far for one week, and budget wouldn't stretch unless you want out of season (poor weather) and a bed and breakfast accommodation so would need money for food and drinks.

Maldives - ridiculous suggestion. When I went it was a 20hr journey door to door, so travelling is long. Aside from that it's not within budget.

Caribbean - probably within budget but you'd need to go out of season (poor weather).

I would stick to Europe and do luxury. Italy would be my best suggestion. It completely depends what type of holiday you want.

Rome? Busy, expensive and touristy. Wouldn't be my suggestion.

I would suggest somewhere Southern which is much more beautiful, friendlier and cheaper (dependant on where you go). Puglia which has lovely truro's, or somewhere in the Campania region with vineyards and beautiful villas with pools.

DaveClifton · 28/01/2023 10:23

Italy for sure. Amalfi coast (Capri and/or Ischia) or the northern lakes (Maggiore is just glorious) - both have the kind of beautiful faded glamour you want on honeymoon.

HowCanIPayItForward · 28/01/2023 10:24

Croatia

Whitney168 · 28/01/2023 10:26

Slovenia for me on your budget, some time in Ljubljana and then out to Lake Bled.

Don't go to Cuba if you have any intention of going to the US any time soon afterwards, as it will bugger you up on ESTAs (mutters and grumbles).

hereforwhatever · 28/01/2023 10:26

It depends on what you want to spend the biggest chunk of money on. I'd personally go for gorgeous hotel within Europe and spend the bigger part of the cash on nice meals/good wine etc. Obviously the further away you go, the less you'll have to spend when you get there.

beachcitygirl · 28/01/2023 15:05

Barbados.

No real bad season. Great nightlife (both the fun & flashy & the cool & hip type)
Great live music if you want it.
Superlative beaches. Fab food
Very very cheap to eat out (if you don't go to the tourist trap hotels/restaurants)

Lots to do. Easy to get around without a car. Feel free to dm me for more info x
