You have 2.5k for a 7/8 day honeymoon - where do you go?

Just that really. Married DH last year and have 2.5k/3k for a kids free honeymoon for 7days ish. Both 30's - parents have offered to look after our children when we're away. However as we're so busy with jobs/kids we haven't looked into it properly! Would still like some luxury/culture if possible on that budget! Want sunshine and not UK...please help!

We also have around 900 quid in BA vouchers in addition to 2.5k that we have to use by the end of September that we'd like to use towards it too!

When are you going and what temperature do you want?

If you like beaches, Thailand. You can get luxury for that budget, and culture if you want. There's a reason it's so popular!

The Caribbean is also lovely but if you're looking for interesting culture maybe less so - except Cuba which is fascinating, though there is a lot of poverty.

What are you looking for culture-wise?

We went to Thailand for our honeymoon was lovely - recommend a couple of days in Bangkok and then a nice hotel - but yes depends when

Fairygodmotherintraining · 26/01/2023 19:17

Jordan! Petra, the Dead sea, the Red Sea, camping in the desert and lots of good food!

sunseaandme · 26/01/2023 19:51

A couple of ideas. Based on the fact I got married during covid and therefore wasn't able to have the honeymoon I wanted and had to go with my third choice!!

First choice was Mexico, playa del carmen, we booked (and had to cancel) the beachfront glorious Hilton hotel

Second choice was a 5 star hotel in Ibiza with a hot tub on the balcony (not everyone's cup of tea I understand)

I went to Thailand a few years ago - Mainly phuket area but we also stayed in Bangkok area for a few days and it was the best holiday I've ever been on. Thailand is absolutely breathtaking and the hotels are out of this world

sunseaandme · 26/01/2023 19:53

Further to above I can recommend a VERY good luxurious hotel in Phuket if interested

Italy! East to get to and back from with your 7-day timeframe. Plenty of culture, beautiful scenery, amazing food, and you can splash that budget on fab luxury. You could do a few days in Florence for city/culture, take a day trip to San Marino for quirky castle on a mountain top fun, then finish with a few days on the Cinqueterra coast.

barneymcgroo · 26/01/2023 20:35

Defo Italy. 7-8 days is not long enough to want to spend a day travelling.

Food, sun, sea, food, culture, food...

Cape Verde??

madeinthe80z · 26/01/2023 20:45

Vegas!

AperolWhore · 26/01/2023 20:46

Cape Verde is a fab shout, hot, glorious sunshine and seas and amazing resorts for a fly and flop holiday

yestgif · 27/01/2023 07:46

Cape Verde was my first thought with that burger

yestgif · 27/01/2023 07:46

Budget!

We're city goer and sightseeing sorts of people but for a honeymoon I'd go somewhere pretty and relaxing with tropical beaches and lots of ways to spoil yourself. You can only do this once :)

ChatSamosa · 27/01/2023 07:52

Italy. If you haven't already, watch the Stanley Tucci series 'Searching for Italy' that'll make your mind up!

trrk · 27/01/2023 08:51

Thailand is a good idea but 7-8 days is quite short.

Mauritius if culture is less important. Not sure if it falls within budget but you can use the BA voucher and there is not much jet leg which makes it easier to fly long haul for a week. BA had overnight flights when I went.

Bobshhh · 27/01/2023 08:52

Italy - Tuscany or the Amalfi coast

We were going to Sri Lanka but covid/pregnancy/baby. Plan was to move around a couple of hotels in Colombo, Kandy and Ella. Maybe we’ll get to go one day 🥲

Is it the Surin. It's my favourite place on earth!

But a little far for a week maybe

I've been loving the White Lotus second series. So my vote goes to Sicily. Stunning scenery and culture. The best food. And only a three hour flight.

Ihavekids · 27/01/2023 08:58

Italy. Rome is the most beautiful and romantic city. 3/ 4 days there. Then maybe a beautiful Tuscan farmhouse with pool to eat, drink and relax. Perfect in late spring or early autumn.
Get your flights into Rome and outbof Pisa with your ba vouchers. All that money for hotels, wine, and gelato!
I wouldn't go long haul for 7/ 8 days, all your money and time will go on flights.

We went to Mitsis London Memories hotel resort in Rhodes a few years ago, it’s adults only, with private beach, absolutely beautiful and lovely staff. It’s not a particularly lively resort but lovely and relaxing. There’s also the acropolis and Linda’s old town nearby which is spectacular, and it’s easy to hire a car and drive to Rhodes Town to explore too 😊. I’d recommend it!

IceCreamWithSprinkles · 27/01/2023 09:05

Sorry autocorrect fail…. It was Mitsis Lindos Memories

LizzieBrooks · 27/01/2023 09:08

Absolutely Italy

kegofcoffee · 27/01/2023 09:21

For 7 days I'd avoid anything with a big time difference. And try and time any 8 hour+ flights as overnight. So you don't loose too much to travel and jet lag.

When we only had 6 days for our honeymoon we did a safari in Kenya. Flight was 8 hours, which we did overnight and the time difference is only 3 hours. So no jet lag. But I'm not sure £2-3k would cover it.

I reckon splurging on 7days in Italy with a nice hotel and good meals out would be amazing.
