The holy grail. Hotels with interconnecting room or proper beds for children

I realise I am looking for the holy grail!

Looking for a lovely hotel in Europe. Preferably in Spain, Portugal etc as Greece and Turkey are too hot for the summer holidays.

I don’t want a family room, or an apartment that has sofa beds or pull out beds for the kids. They’re 10 and 12 and like their comforts! A separate room with twin full size single beds is a minimum. It’s so hard to filter for this on holiday websites, unless you can recommend once that does filter for this.

And to complicate things further, they want a water park too!

Any ideas or recommendations please…. TIA

I'm looking for the same thing, wish holiday sites would let you filter for this!

Hilton do interconnecting rooms on their website. Don’t rule out one bed apartments though, sometimes sofa beds are full singles if you search for them. Golden Beach in Oura Bay, Albufeira is one example.

CeeceeBloomingdale · 22/01/2023 22:43

no water park though

Sometimes Jet2 has this filter - but sometimes not? Very strange. But yes it's the holy grail isn't it!

Hotel Duva in Puerto Pollensa has 2 bedroom apartments.

Have just booked a Kinderhotel in Germany. Have a look at the site.

2 I've stayed in with 2 bed apartments that we've like are the Aliathon holiday Village in Cyprus and the Coma Gran in Majorca. If I remember rightly you can filter by number of rooms once you've narrowed down the resort on Jet2 but that may have changed. I've been having the same battle for years.

Spain and portugal are equally as hot in the summer hols (Spain in particular). In Portugal look at the Pestana Group hotels; lots of their properties have family sized accommodation.

coronafiona · 22/01/2023 22:55

I'm looking too!
I can however recommend the Hilton doubletree in stoke near Alton towers who have big rooms that sleep 6, they're fabulous!

On Tui, depending on the hotel and availability, you can find them when you click on the hotel and then select the type of room room. We booked a 2 bed option last year, it was lovely, 2 bedrooms each with patio doors out (with child safety features), TVs, and it had a corridor to the bathroom so felt close to a suite without the living space.

Hotel Lone in Rovinj in Croatia has interconnecting rooms. No water park, but 2 big ones in the area.

QueryA · 22/01/2023 23:14

tui blue lagoon in kos has family rooms that consist of 2 separate rooms one a double and one either a twin or a triple. There is a small corridor and a bathroom. No living space but nice balconies accessed off both bedrooms and a water park on site. We had an amazing holiday there and were so happy to have found something which catered for 3 kids!
Only found it though as my sister went there previously a recommended it, still don’t think there is any way of searching on websites for this!

Golden Taurus Park, it has 2 bedroom suites and an aqua park. On the Costa Brava, can get the train to Barcelona. TUI goes there.

squareofthehypotepotenuse · 23/01/2023 10:17

Cordial Mogan Playa in Gran Canaria has 2 bed/2 bath family rooms. It’s a lovely hotel and short walk to the marina/beach, but no water park.

snowsilver · 23/01/2023 11:10

We always managed this from DC being very young, no sofa beds.
Search for two bedroomed apartments. You pay more because they generally expect 6 people - 4 in bedrooms and 2 on sofas.
TBH at 10 and 12 we just booked DC a separate hotel room and requested next door.
If you want hotel facilities - food and entertainment you can often find these together.
I can't recommend a particular hotel but the best water park we went to was Siam Park in Tenerife.
Also look at Olympic Lagoon hotel in Cyprus.

BookwormButNoTime · 23/01/2023 13:45

Dubrovnik Sun Gardens, although I have no idea about water parks. We had an amazing one week stay there.

Domes Lake Algarve.

Martinhal Sagres.

ShirleyHolmes · 23/01/2023 23:20

thanks for all the ideas! I love holiday planning.

@snowsilver do you request that from the agent, or hotel directly? I tried it once before when holidaying with a friend and they didn’t honour the request so I’m nervous.

Grecotel Kos Palace has this set up

user8545 · 24/01/2023 07:43

@ShirleyHolmes it shouldn't be like a hotel request, it's a room type, it'll be more expensive, they will have to honour your room type. It's not like asking for a room close to reception for example.

Twizbe · 24/01/2023 07:51

Magic natura in benidorm. Little chalet with separate bathroom and bedroom for the kids.

On-site zoo and water park included in the price.

HolidayHappy123 · 24/01/2023 07:54

Westin Costa Navarino in Greece has interconnecting rooms and a water park.

DaisyCornflowerBlue · 24/01/2023 08:00

On Vrbo you can choose how many rooms you want but pay close attention to the type of beds offered. I'd fallen in love with a 2 bed apartment in Rome only to find the bed in the second room was a futon. My 16 year old hates sofa beds and futons. She's like the Princess and the Pea. It wouldn't be worth the strop.

bellamountain · 24/01/2023 13:15

I actually find Spain way hotter than the Greek Islands in the summer. Crete has some lovely hotels that would suit your requirement and the breeze from the sea is lovely. I didn't sweat once in Crete last summer. And I usually have trouble regulating my temperature when we go to Spain.
