Help me plan group 50th holiday that suits all

6 ladies 49-51 planning a group 50th holiday.

Help us decide where could suit?

Within about 4 hours of UK with short transfer time.

Beach location but within access to nearby city or explore big town.

Bit of an evening buzz.

Something that feels a bit special so maybe nice hotel, apartment or villa.

Price range flexible but let's say around £1000 per head. (Could be a couple of hundred either side)

We've spoken about Italy but not sure where, Greece but not sure where and haven't really considered Spain or Portugal but it's not off the menu.

Sounds lovely!

I'd google adult only hotels Europe and see if any appeal. Failing that you might try Barcelona area

But my favorite for a trip like this would be somewhere on the Côte d'Azur. Tres chic and plenty to see and do with good night buzz. Easy to get to and get around without a car too.

Atrium Platinum Resort in Rhodes has a large spa, 20 mins transfer from the airport, 20 min walk to the town centre and is just a short walk from the beach.

emmathedilemma · 22/11/2022 14:26

Barcelona

50th · 22/11/2022 14:28

I've spoken to the group and the consensus is that a hotel (possibly that offers all inclusive) would be better than apartment/villa so less catering involved.

Not sure on the difference in price but will look at options. The Rhodes suggestion looks lovely and have sent the link to the ladies.

In Greece, maybe Glyfada on the Athens Riviera. There is a very good choice of accommodation, you could do a day up to Athens, visit Vouliagmeni lake, lots of very fine beaches around. All very lovely and quite elegant. greeking.me/blog/visiting-athens/item/128-athens-riviera

Dartmoorcheffy · 22/11/2022 19:39

Rome and Prague are both beautiful places to visit

A group of us similiar age did Valencia - we did Airbnb but that’s only because we ate out all the time . Easy to get to the beach /plenty of restaurants &bars/culture if you like churches etc (not my thing but suited 1 of our group ) and we spent one afternoon being taught how to make paella after a visit to the market to get the ingredients - good fun and plenty of alcohol !

Dubrovnik- stay at Lapad and you get a beach holiday combined with a short bus ride into the centre of Dubrovnik.
I've stayed at the 5 star Valamar President and 4 star Valamar Lacroma. The president has private access to a beach, but Lacroma is also a great hotel.

declutteringmymind · 22/11/2022 20:49

I'd do something really grown up like Cannes , amalfi coast, or the Italian lakes even.

Goodoldvera · 22/11/2022 20:53

Look at Lindos Rhodes...some beautiful village houses you could rent as a group. Restaurants and bars galore perfect for your age group.

Barcelona

MichelleScarn · 22/11/2022 20:55

You are brave!! Don't be the one who takes on ANY financial responsibility, have seen so many posts with group hols where people back out last minute causing chaos and significant expense to rest of group!

MichelleScarn · 22/11/2022 20:56

Ray of sunshine me sorry! 😄

Funchal. Brilliant combo of city and pool type holiday. Amazing old town with great buzz. Incredible food. Stay at Savoy Palace

Oblomov22 · 22/11/2022 21:03

When? What date?

WhyOhWine · 22/11/2022 21:15

Ibiza. Ibiza Town is a fun place in the evening (lots of nice bars and restaurants, shops, nice streets in the old town area). No need for full on clubbing, but that is available too! There are beaches nearby and you can get a taxi or boat there in the evening.

Majorca. Palma is a lovely city and there are some beaches in easy reach.

Dubrovnik is a good call.

i was thinking of suggesting Mykonos, but it is ridiculously expensive and busy.

Corfu town is nice but you would need to research nearby beaches and hotels as when we have been in Corfu where we stayed is too far from Corfu Town for a night out (we have done day trip).

Porto in Portugal.

Taormina in Sicily.

What time of year were you thinking?

Jfw82 · 22/11/2022 21:28

Palma is a beautiful city, and there are so many amazing luxury hotels there. The whole island is easily explored, and it's a short flight.

kateandme · 23/11/2022 05:58

Going against what you said totally here lol.but we found the hotel ai didn’t fit when a group of differing tastes and needs went.
for us it was a villa, gite, farmhouse in France that seriously pulled it out the bag.they are in the towns often so you can walk in to eat and be near the buzz but out of it too. People can come in and out eat when they want, pop in, nap or split up knowing singularly u could just go home.easier to also cater for all needs and do special nights in front of the fire more relaxed, doing your own thing, leaving your shit around the place.it felt so much more comfy than a hotel where it never quite felt like you could switch off.
it had enough accommodations and each room was perfect.

34and3 · 23/11/2022 06:00

What time of year?

Ridelikethewindypops · 23/11/2022 06:16

@kateandme would you mind sharing or pm link to the location/ accommodation you went with?

These are all really good points. Think villa / apartment will have to go back on as an option.

All the locations suggestions sound great - keep them coming.

Agree about Mykonos probably being too expensive.
