Hi,
My daughter and I went on a 3 night break to Annecy this summer, and had a great time. Lovely scenery, nice walks along the lake and a town that was good was just ambling along the streets and a bit of shopping. I am looking for suggestions for something similar next summer.

My daughter is not keen on big cities. Another place we have been to previously that she liked was Carcassonne.

I am looking for somewhere for a 3/4 night break.
Late June/ early July timing wise.
Nice scenery and easy access to some walks without a car.

I would love to hear your suggestions.

Mahon, Menorca is lovely.

Salzburg, Krakow, Copenhagen/Malmø, Aarhus, Gothenburg, Helsinki - all just large towns by UK standards, but full of things to do.

York. It's a big city but didn't feel busy when we were there in Oct half term and we easily got around without a car

I went to Murcia in southern Spain. Beautiful city with walks plus good shopping. Our hotel even had a pool.

St Moritz, Bern, Valencia.

I've just done 3 days in York with my teens. They loved it! Even though we live less than an hour away.

And it's really not that big a city! Comparable to Bath rather than London for example. Very easy to get around.

Some great suggestions there. Salzburg, Murcia, Mahon, St Moritz and Bern probably top my list with a very brief look at those.

We have been to York several times and is absolutely the type of place She likes. She has mentioned Edinburgh as well before.

I like Bruges

SingingSands · 11/09/2022 20:26

Another suggestion: Malaga.

Great for a city break all year round. The Christmas lights are amazing, totally blows away anything the UK can do!

wobbleinprogress · 11/09/2022 20:32

Genoa is really nice

Zell am Zee
Reykjavik - just come back from 4 days there with DS 18. We both rated it highly.

PAFMO · 11/09/2022 22:18

DD and I loved both Toledo and Salamanca.
@EwwSprouts how funny- I've been looking at those exact two places this afternoon for next year!

KidsgroveBoggart · 11/09/2022 22:31

Girona, Granada, Verona.

Oblomov22 · 11/09/2022 22:37

Bruges is tiny. Absolutely great.
Likewise Ljubljana. Fabulous.

Strictlystem · 11/09/2022 23:11

Ooh Zell am Zee and Girona look great too.
So many good options. I think I’ll have many years worth of options at the end of this.
So many places that wouldn’t have been on my radar too.

Bruges is a lovely small city with more of a town feel to it

EwwSprouts · 12/09/2022 08:52

@PAFMO Great minds! I hope you enjoy wherever you choose.
