Recommend a European resort

Must be by a stunning sandy beach, ideally have an old town to explore, great places to eat as we don't like all inclusive and easily accessible from minor UK airports.

Just back from Rethmyno in Crete and would recommend. We chose to stay in Old Town, 1 min walk from an access point off rocks into deep sea, 15 mins walk from sandy beach. Alternatively, lots of apartments/ hotels opposite beach and walk to Old Town. Lovely Venetian harbour, Venetian port, archeological museum and fab restaurants and shops. Plus good buses to other parts of Crete/ boat trips/ water sports etc.

Sites was on my list too, thanks, good call.

I haven't been to Rethymnon for about 25 years and even then I didn't stay there so would definitely consider it. Glad you enjoyed it.
