Package holidays- safest provider?

Shadowboy · 26/08/2022 17:30

We’ve never booked package holidays before. Usually a villa and flights separately. However this was prior to having children. I now want an easy all inclusive holiday next summer.

Some websites are showing holidays significantly cheaper than others- I suspect it’s a case of “it’s too good to be true”?

is TUI basically sound? What about the others out there? Who is reliable?

Tui and Jet2 are pretty good. If you go on Facebook though you’ll see loads of pages for complaints for both but you have to remember most people only tend to post online when they have complaints! Loads of people have holidays with both with no issue at all.

Sprig1 · 26/08/2022 17:44

Tui. We go with them every year and we have never had any issues and service has always been great.

midsomermurderess · 26/08/2022 17:45

I’ve always found Jet2 very good. The baggage allowance is very generous. They’ve been very good with refunds over Covid.

superram · 26/08/2022 17:48

I’ve just been on an easyJet package-I was dreading in (I went with my parents, I’m also a villa and ba flights type). It was fine, we got a private transfer through easyJet and it was grand. Their self check/ bag drop at Gatwick was super efficient.

Bindayagain · 26/08/2022 17:50

I've had 3 holidays with Jet2 and would only use them now for that sort of holiday.

TheFlis12345 · 26/08/2022 17:52

BA Holidays are often incredibly good value, we have found them cheaper than places like Tui or booking flights and hotels separately.

LubaLuca · 26/08/2022 17:53

Tui is a safe bet, and although I've had to have lots in compensation from them over the years due to problems and flight delays (£2k for this year's holiday alone), I would book with them again as they're very unlikely to go bust.

I've had better service from Jet2 though, so I'd go to them first if they had the holiday I wanted at a reasonable price.

TheArtfulScreamer1 · 26/08/2022 17:55

I usually use Jet 2 and only have good things to say about my experiences so far

notangelinajolie · 26/08/2022 17:55

Jet2. Couldn’t fault them. No problems, no delays not even at Manchester Airport.

lanbro · 26/08/2022 18:02

Jet2, definitely. Been with them 3 times this year alone, loads more before covid, and find them excellent. Just been with Tui and were fine, but more expensive for a very similar holiday, with a smaller baggage allowance

Monkeytapper · 26/08/2022 18:06

Don’t book through TUI at the moment, look on Facebook group ‘TUI customer service and holiday complaints’…they are cancelling holidays last minute, taking ages to refund and customer service is shocking,…..we book ours through Jet2, never had any issues

OutDamnedSpot · 26/08/2022 18:07

Jet2 were also brilliant through the pandemic - really easy to rebook holidays etc.

gogohmm · 26/08/2022 18:07

TUI! Yes they have had issues with flight cancellations but everyone has. We have found them excellent through covid issues

RosieKnees · 26/08/2022 18:15

My extended family has done dozens of package holidays with TUI, BA and Jet2. Never had a significant issue and overall have been brilliant.

Have to say Jet2 are are especially impressive.

Enzobear · 26/08/2022 18:18

Another vote for Jet2. Never used them before this summer (was supposed to go with Tui but they cancelled and refunded my holiday). Jet2 were great, holiday was lovely, airport staff helpful, no queues, excellent communication. Will definitely use them above Tui in future.

Roselilly36 · 26/08/2022 18:23

I would say Jet2, but depends where you need to fly from, I don’t think Jet2 go from Gatwick. Jet2 are which recommended I think, they were quick to refund customers unable to travel due to covid etc.

BookwormButNoTime · 26/08/2022 18:26

Trailfinders and Jet2 - who have recently gone into partnership together. Both are fab, now and through the pandemic

Itreallyistimetogo · 26/08/2022 18:33

Jet2 are great in my experience.

tellyiscrap · 26/08/2022 18:33

Another vote for Jet 2 - never had any issues

Shadowboy · 26/08/2022 18:35

Thanks everyone! The price difference between some is incredible- eg all inclusive 5 with easyJet is basically the same as a 4 with TUI/Jet2 half board.

it makes this a minefield!

thanks though I will keep browsing through 😊

We lost money in 2020 by booking flights & accommodation separately, so now go for a "package".

Doesn't mean going for a Tui-type holiday, but there are plenty of companies that can tailor-make what you want & are covered by the "package" rules.

We once had a good, cheap holiday with Tui, booked a second, & never again !
BA holidays have been good for us, as well as tailor-made.

Topseyt123 · 26/08/2022 19:36

Jet2 and TUI.

RampantIvy · 26/08/2022 21:09

Another vote for Jet2. We have also been well looked after in the past by Tui, but they seem to have a few problems lately.

CousinGregg · 26/08/2022 21:27

easyjet holidays for Gatwick or Tui

becausewecan · 26/08/2022 21:29

We've uses jet2 for many years now and they have always been excellent. They also employ their own baggage handlers and ground staff so haven't been as hard hit by alot of the recent staffing issues as other airlines.
