Package holidays- safest provider?

We’ve never booked package holidays before. Usually a villa and flights separately. However this was prior to having children. I now want an easy all inclusive holiday next summer.

Some websites are showing holidays significantly cheaper than others- I suspect it’s a case of “it’s too good to be true”?

is TUI basically sound? What about the others out there? Who is reliable?

When you are looking at packages check exactly what is includes in the price. Luggage allowance, transfers, fine details of drinks/food etc. Sometimes a price can look cheap but when you add on the extras it's not as cheap as it first appeared.

Jet 2

Tillyvonpantsalo · 27/08/2022 07:16

Have used Jet2 and they are great but for our most recent holiday I booked through On the Beach and made my own package. By far the cheapest, no problems at all.

Jet2 are brilliant, far superior to Tui in my humble opinion.

BarbaraofSeville · 27/08/2022 14:10

Well Easyjet is an established airline and if it's a package you have extra protection, so if they're doing the best deal for what you want, I'd go with them.

Even when there's been lots of complaints, 90%+ of people have had a lovely holiday with no issues or only very minor ones.

Perhaps they have a plane and/or hotel they want to fill, hence the good price.

Haven’t used jet 2, but everyone I know who has, rates them highly.
Been away once with tui this year, and due to go again later in the year. No complaints, all good.

We are going on an easyjet package next year. Used them for a couple of city breaks packages, and they were great.

Startuplife · 28/08/2022 10:53

We usually always use TUI for our summer holiday and never had any problems. For shorter breaks I find either Easyjet holidays or BA holidays better value if you’re booking far enough in advance. I tend towards BA because I can fly from London City for a lot of destinations and it’s an absolute dream.

Used TUI loads of times without issue but the service level has definitely declined. It's basically just a flight, transfer and hotel package now. No personal touches whatsoever. All communication via app and email which is fine until you have a problem and can't get hold of a person.

I'd shop around next time tbh.

BG2015 · 31/08/2022 20:25

Jet2 are great but they don't do long haul.

TUI are also very good, never had an issue with them. Holidayhypermarket is also part of TUI and often a few hundred pounds cheaper.

Vegasbaby1 · 01/09/2022 11:08

Just checked in for my flight on Saturday with tui. Just browsing next year’s hols to see if there are any bargains!
Holiday on Saturday was cheaper than booking everything separately.
it seems to work that way with certain destinations.

I've used easyJet a lot for package holidays and do find them to be very price competitive and I've never had any issues with them. I have also used On The Beach in the past for package hols and didn't have any issues either!

Thanks everyone! The price difference between some is incredible- eg all inclusive 5 with easyJet is basically the same as a 4 with TUI/Jet2 half board.

it makes this a minefield!

thanks though I will keep browsing through 😊

We booked with Easyjet Holidays for the same reason back in 2020 (booked before covid hit). It meant we could go all inclusive at the same price it would cost half board with TUI (same hotel). It got cancelled due to covid however the money was back in our account within a week - at the same time TUI were holding onto their customers money. I'd definitely book with them again - although we didn't actually end up going I would applaud the way they were handling cancellations. We were offered 10% off if we moved the dates or rebooked a new holiday altogether or a full refund, no pressure at all. I didn't even have to speak to them it was all done via emails and their website.

I just had an email from BA to say their sale is on. The flights I have my eye on for next summer are still the same price they were before the sale but it might be worth checking for some flight + hotel bargains.
