Which country in Africa?

I want to visit somewhere in Africa next year - my interest is to see some natural history, so animals and landscapes, and maybe a bit of archaeology too. I'd like to spend at least a couple of nights in a tented camp or safari lodge.

I've narrowed it down to Kenya, Namibia, a twin Zimbabwe/Botswana tour, or Sudan. I'm just wondering if anyone has been to any of these countries and can offer opinions on which would be the best? I'll be trying to visit off-season so it's not too hot, but temperature is a factor for me because of menopausal hot flushes!

@TizerorFizz Turkana! Amazing place. I was there in 1985. Long time ago.

I love Africa! So following this thread is great.

Can recommend Tanzania and Zanzibar, Kenya, did 2 solo trips in South Africa. All amazing places. In fact all of them I did solo.

Namibia is on my bucket list.

I agree with PP about booking with local companies. I booked a 5-day safari in Arusha, Tanzania - gateway to Serengeti, Nogorgoro, Lake Manyara (lions in the trees!) and Tarangire (elephant park) all-in for 8OO US.

You can also fly into Kilimanjaro Int. airport, near Arusha and from Arusha to Zanzibar - tiny plane, eek! 😀

@Iflyaway Are the lions still at Lake Manyara? I had heard otherwise.,

@TizerorFizz They were when I was there, but that was about 7 years ago now. I only saw them in the trees though.

We saw then in the 80s. But I had heard they had died out. Hopefully not!
