so many wonderful cities to choose from.

Blimey - only 3?

Rome - because there is so much to see and lovely food.
Seville - just gorgeous. Lovely architecture and tapas bars.
I would once have said Prague, but it's a bit overrun and expensive these days. Budapest maybe as a replacement.

Munich, Barcelona, Oslo, Montpellier, Granada, Lisbon, Madrid.....

MrsPatrickDempsey · 26/06/2022 10:15

Too many to choose:-
Stockholm, Tallinn, Budapest, Lisbon, Amsterdam, anywhere in Italy....

midsomermurderess · 26/06/2022 12:07

Three! And one post in it’s already at 7. Amsterdam, Lisbon, Lyon.

midsomermurderess · 26/06/2022 12:15

I’ll swap Helsinki for Amsterdam.

Whereswallywonka · 26/06/2022 12:16

Rome
Naples
Budapest

Forgothowmuchlhatehomeschoolin · 26/06/2022 12:18

Verona, Bruges & Barcelona

Forgothowmuchlhatehomeschoolin · 26/06/2022 12:19

Preferred Verona to Rome - still lots of history there just more compact
Loved Bruges and caught the train to Ypres.
Barca loved the art and football and food was amazing.

brokengoalposts · 26/06/2022 12:29

For stuff to do... Paris, Berlin and Rome

For how happy I was when I was there... Zagreb, Bergen, Gothenburg
(I'm generally very content in Eastern Europe or Scandinavia)

brokengoalposts · 26/06/2022 12:30

Hmmm, yeah I'll add Barcelona for stuff to do.

brokengoalposts · 26/06/2022 12:30

Oh and Milan. Great place.

Lesina · 26/06/2022 12:41

Split - history, architecture & stunning coastline
Bruges - history, architecture, great beer and great chocolate
London - history, architecture, great parks & theatres.

YourLittleSecret · 26/06/2022 12:59

Barcelona, Split, Vienna.

Purplecatshopaholic · 26/06/2022 13:17

If Uk, defo count Edinburgh and London in there.
If Europe, then Madrid for the amazing Big Three art galleries, just awesome.
Krakow is lovely and visiting Auschwitz, while not for the faint hearted, is an experience no one should miss.
Amsterdam is beautiful, canal boat trips are lovely, flight is really short.

CoolShoeshine · 26/06/2022 18:30

Venice, Amsterdam, Salzburg
All have exceptional historic charm and atmosphere

1moreyear · 26/06/2022 18:35

Reykjavik (in fact just Iceland generally). Amazing cathedral, lush little coffee shops and usually something random going on. I've been to Iceland 4 times, last time there was a classic car gathering in the streets of Reykjavik 👍

Rome I've only been once but definitely didn't see everything. Sooooo much history, obviously you expect it but the sheer scale totally blew me away!

And a bit left field but Southampton as there's so much live music we end up there at least once every couple of months! Hate shopping there, totally soulless experience but some amazing smaller music venues. Faves are The Joiners and The Engine Rooms.

Worst place was Naples....dog shit on every corner.

1moreyear · 26/06/2022 18:36

I really want to go to Split looks so beautiful!

PeppaPigIsBacon · 26/06/2022 18:40

Copenhagen - just a lovely city and so much to do
Genoa - fantastic just to wander around and get lost in, plus easy access to some stunning Italian scenery
Bergen - mountains, fjords and excellent coffee!

OneWildNightWithJBJ · 26/06/2022 18:48

London - so much to do, history...
Rome - history, liked the atmosphere, although it was very hot
Salzburg - very picturesque

Difficult to choose three though!

CousinGregg · 26/06/2022 20:44

London - its got it all
Malaga - sun, food, culture
Paris- atmosphere

worst- Amsterdam - racist, rude, cess pit

Hoolahulahoop · 26/06/2022 20:45

Rome
Lisbon
Krakow

MiniDinosaur · 26/06/2022 20:47

Berlin, interesting and cool.
Lisbon, pretty and relaxing.
Amsterdam, elegant and cool, beyond the centre.

neverrested · 26/06/2022 20:48

Berlin
Budapest
Paris

CockingASnook · 26/06/2022 20:56

Just back from Girona and loved it: small and compact with great places to eat and drink and interesting old town. Not a lot in the way of museums or galleries but you can jump on a train to Barcelona for that, without the hassle of actually staying in Barcelona.
Staying in Spain, San Sebastián has fantastic food plus beaches. Also love Palma, really nice old Town with Moorish touches. Seville and Cordoba also excellent.

claracluck1978 · 26/06/2022 20:57

Top 3
London
Rome
Dubrovnik

Worthy mentions then for
Venice
Ljubljana
Split
Madrid

I could then list a further dozen. I'm trying to persuade DP that we should replace an annual holiday with several city breaks throughout the year. But he's a coastal/country lad and I'm a city girl!

Perfectlystill · 26/06/2022 21:02

Best:
Valencia
Amsterdam
Florence

I found Brussels very boring, Bruges a bit twee, Madrid bland.
