Venice - just amazing. I'm not sure it counts as it's so different to everywhere else.
Paris - never tire of it
Munich - for the beer gardens

easyday · 26/06/2022 21:13

Paris

Cozytoesandtoast00 · 26/06/2022 21:22

Lisbon.
I'm here now and it's just stunning. The architecture is beautiful and the people are lovely. Loving the food too.

mumto2teenagers · 26/06/2022 21:31

Rome - lots to see and do, but we did find it quite expensive.
Budapest - lots to do, cheap and can walk everywhere.
Valencia - lovely laid back feel and nice beach.

MrsMariaReynolds · 26/06/2022 21:34

Rome, Valencia and Athens

CakeParty · 26/06/2022 21:35

Vienna, Tallinn, Belgrade

TheDogsMother · 26/06/2022 22:17

We're discussing this now and can't settle on three. Up to about 10 so far 🤣

Lyon!!!!!! Seriously. It's a shithole

Not in my opinion.

pastaandpesto · 26/06/2022 22:24

Ghent - like Bruges but better, less touristy
Vilnius - quirky museums, great value
Venice 20 years ago when it was less overrun

midsomermurderess · 26/06/2022 22:25

And six exclamation points? What is there to be so hysterical about? One sure sign of a total eejit: ‘!!!!!!!!!!!’; and ‘???????’.

UniBallEye · 27/06/2022 14:29

Too hard to choose!
I adore a city break, it's by far my favourite type of holiday.
Some cities we have been to multiple, multiple times and others just once. If we love somewhere we like to go back and we also love trying new places.

This year we're going to Siena / Lucca / Pisa and they're all new to us.

We went back to Budapest for the first time in about 8 years last winter and really loved it. The last time we visited in Summer. We like to experience places at different times of the year too.

OompaLoompaa · 27/06/2022 15:45

Prague in the winter
St Petersburg
Probably Rome for the wow factor.

Lordofmyflies · 27/06/2022 18:09

Reykjavik - For the people and spas and natural beauty
Berlin - Just so Cool! Edgy, history, beer
Venice - I will never tire of the backstreets, gelato, lidos and architecture

BIWI · 27/06/2022 18:14

Just come back from 3 days in Porto and it was fantastic. Food was amazing, people were really friendly and so much to see/do.

Would also add:

San Sebastian
Venice

(and if I could sneak a fourth, would be Bruges)

ohflipflop · 27/06/2022 18:14

Malaga
Barcelona
Amsterdam

ThreeKneeRepeater · 27/06/2022 18:16

Florence for the art.
Riga for the glorious art nouveau architecture
Stockholm

newtb · 27/06/2022 18:32

Reims - champagne, and the feeling the centre's small enough to 'know'.

Gingerwarthog · 27/06/2022 18:37

Lisbon
Florence
Rotterdam

Gingerwarthog · 27/06/2022 18:43

Just read the second bit.
Why?
Lisbon - great atmosphere, cafes, went there with good friends and explored galleries and the waterfront. Good food
Florence - jewel like city, great food and wine, amazing shops, window shopping on the Ponte Vecchio and wandering round the Uffizi.
Rotterdam - ran the marathon there and the support they gave runners was incredible. Fun city - community feel.

BIWI · 27/06/2022 19:15

I didn't answer the second question either!

San Sebastian because of the food, but also the old city is so quirky and it's a beautiful setting, right on the sea

Venice because of its history, also the food, but just so much to see by wandering around.

TheWoollybacksWife · 27/06/2022 19:48

Rome for the history and the food
Bruges for the tranquility, the beer and the chocolate (the tour of the Half Moon brewery was fantastic). The food was pretty good too and I found Belgium very friendly
Vienna for the architecture and the cakes

Miriam101 · 27/06/2022 19:51

Paris (just unfailingly beautiful)

Naples (not everyone's cup of tea but if you like your cities full of drama, life, art and beauty & you're not overly precious about everything looking picture-perfect in a twee kind of way it could be worth a visit- it is stunningly beautiful)

Venice (nowhere on earth like it but don't go at peak tourist season and research the areas that the locals actually live in)

(but also Lisbon, Berlin, Marseille, Vienna, St Petersburg- but probs errr not at the moment)
