Would you book an easyjet package at the moment?

Hi, easyjet seem to be cheapest at the moment for packages for when I want to go (October half term) but with the way things are at the moment, I'm wary of booking with them.

We've never been abroad so I really don't fancy our first holiday ever being cancelled.

Would you book an easyjet package holiday at the moment?

We booked our summer holiday last week and had the choice of easy jet package or a jet2 package. We have previously booked through Jet2 and covid hit and the refund of our money was quick and easy so we went with Jet2. Everything we have heard about them was positive,

No. My package holiday with easyJet was cancelled today while we were queuing to drop off our bags. Got a text to say the flight had been cancelled ... followed by one saying 'we hope you’re excited to start your holiday! If you have any issues while you're away, we’ll be here for you 24/7 through our UK based On Holiday Support team' Confused. No one to advise us at the airport, no alternative flights, no clarification around where we stood with our holiday, just a planeload of people abandoned at the airport. I've spent more than an hour trying to get through to their support team, no one's answering. So much money and annual leave wasted. Wouldn't touch easyjet with a bargepole!

Ah that’s shocking. I really feel for you. I’ve got a city break package booked with them for later in the year.
Hope they will have got their act together by then!

@notprincehamlet you're entitled to a full refund (although ideally they should put you on the next available flight even if it's with a different airline!) plus compensation.

We went on a package holiday with Easyjet four weeks ago- everything ran smoothly (2hr delay coming home but not a problem). Shuttles, hotel, luggage everything was great.

I spoke with someone who works as cabin crew and she hadn't had any flights cancelled she was meant to work on personally. I think the headlines sound bad but they are still probably a minor percentage overall. Plus its all airlines to some extent isn't it?

It's more likely that they are cancelling so many flights that they might not actually get anywhere!

Jet2 is one of the package opera Turow I saw recommended on which. But if you book easyJet and they did go under, wouldn't you get a refund on travel insurance anyway?

ATM you name an airline, pretty much any airline, and somebody somewhere thinks it's about to go bust.

If you want a package book with jet 2. Easyjet are all over the place atm. I flew with them this week, they are operating with bare bones of staff and are cancelling flights all over the place.

Not sure repeatedly cancelling holidays/flights at the last minute is a sustainable business model

Ah shit. I knew you’d say that. I’m Liverpool to lanzarote on Wednesday 15th at 2.55pm. My friend was going to faro from Liverpool last night with easyJet, plane fault on runway and holiday cancelled also.

EasyJet have recruited massively and are currently training those new members of staff. Background checking is taking ages because all the airlines are recruiting, uniform suppliers are also struggling to meet demand. My DD is on her cabin crew training with EJ right now and should be flying by the first week of July

No I hate easyJet I'd rather pay loads more to never fly with them again. There's always cancellations or the wrong size plane etc and the cancellations snowball into each subsequent day so it's like a domino effect

We thought that surely someone from easyJet would step up and sort things out but no, we were just directed to the app and left to get on with it. I spent over an hour at the airport trying to get through to them on the phone but no one answers. I was looking to see if we could get flights from another airport but it turns out easyJet had cancelled our holiday (they eventually told us this in an email sent half an hour after our flight should have left) - if we had done we'd have arrived at the hotel to find we had no accommodation. So - having paid £50 for a taxi to the airport just a few hours earlier - we went home.

No ... but I am just not planning any overseas holidays for the foreseeable future .. I am sure most holidays go ahead without problem but I just can't bear the thought of the hassle.

Even with all the cancellations, it's probably the case that 90%+ of people who've booked still have a successful holiday so it's not a given that if you book with Easyjet, it will get cancelled. Plus it sounds positive that they're recruiting and training, which obviously takes time. But then again, who knows what the state of the travel industry and wider world will be in a few months time.

Having said that, Jet2 seem to have been doing better than most other airlines recently and during the pandemic, so worth looking at, even if it means using an airport further away than the one you're looking at.

As an aside, in all the arguments of North vs South, the existence of Jet2 is definitely one advantage for Team North Smile

Who would you pay loads more to?

Ba, for example have cancelled lots of flights, have a history of Losing bags(lost my dh’s twice) and have terrible customer service!

They’re basically a budget airline but have lofty notions about themselves!

Ryanair and jet 2 have come out of this debacle the best. I use Ryanair all the time and they are consistently good.
Even though there has been massive problems over the past month or so with easyjet and tui, it’s still only a small Percentage of flights that are being cancelled!

I know lots of people who flew in the last two weeks with no problems.

You’re not going to hear about the thousands of flights that are going ahead every day! That’s not very newsworthy!
