Package holidays

Where do people book package holidays these days?

We have always booked via last minute .com to get a flight and hotel deal ( or booked each element seperately) but I have read some terrible reviews lately.

We are going for a 5 day break but a package including transfers is our preferred option but struggling to think where to look

Have you looked at Jet 2 , they include coach transfers as a minimum

Jet2 have been amazing our last 2 holidays I'd not book with anyone else atm. Good luck

Jet2 are based in Leeds so the definitely fly from Leeds Bradford. We have also flown with them from Manchester.

Thank you! Sorry I meant to say in the south I think they only fly from Standstead but looking at the glowing reviews on here it may be worth the journey

Definitely Jet2. When EasyJet and BA were cancelling flights left, right and centre at Easter our Jet2 flight was on time and stress free.

Do you mean most of the people having problems are booked with TUI?

I have been put off by the horrendous stories in the news about TUI and a friend literally had her holiday for tomorrow cancelled today

@ivykaty44 that's who I usually book with but after the appalling videos on SM. I will be considering Jet2 in future myself.

Although I have never had any type of bad services yet... I fly Friday though so I'm bracing myself.

Barkingmadhouse · 03/06/2022 06:56

Tui and jet2 - used both in the last 6 weeks and had no issues with either

Mindymomo · 03/06/2022 07:05

We go from Gatwick and usually use First Choice Holidays, but they are now part of Tui.

CeeceeBloomingdale · 03/06/2022 07:09

I wouldn’t personally use TUI again after a bad experience. I only use jet2holidays or ba holidays and only book direct. Travel agents can book jet2holidays but most charge more for the same holiday you can book yourself. A few charge the same and advise they give passport, visa, vaccine advice etc but I’d still rather check that myself.

fancyfrogs · 03/06/2022 07:11

Another vote for Jet2holidays

Nutrigrainygoodness · 03/06/2022 07:13

We had our tui holiday cancelled with 6 days notice on Wednesday. So I very quickly booked an all inclusive with Jet2- I phoned them yesterday to see if I could upgrade the holiday, and the lady on the phone was amazing. The customer service from Jet2 was like nothing I had experienced for a long time.
I will definitely book with them again.

Shaambaalaa · 03/06/2022 07:31

I went to Turkey with Jet2. They were great.

Shaambaalaa · 03/06/2022 07:31

Booked 3 days before and paid less than half of everyone we met there.

RampantIvy · 03/06/2022 07:54

I agree that Jet2 customer service has always been good @Nutrigrainygoodness. Pre covid I found you could get through to a person without having to wade through loads of automated menus.

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 03/06/2022 07:56

Never had an issue with TUi- they were great over the pandemIc for us but appreciate it seems to be pot luck

DiamondBright · 03/06/2022 07:59

I used to always book with Thomas Cook, haven't tried the new incarnation of the company. We're going with Jet2 this year, I've been with them before, booked by as someone else and had no problems.

I know the fashion is for booking holidays in spare components to save money, but personally I've always booked a package deal when going abroad and I think always will.

GettingStuffed · 03/06/2022 08:01

It's just been on the news that TUI have sorted out most of their broblems

Fluffyslippersohyes · 03/06/2022 08:13

An independent travel agent has always got me the best deal, better than I can find trawling online.

AuntieDolly · 03/06/2022 08:38

EasyJet holidays

I have compared the last few holidays we have taken booking independently vs booking a package and it wasn't any cheaper to book it all separately. Mainly because the transfers would have cost too much.

Our return journey from Madeira was eventful when a bee got stuck in the equipment www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/news/liverpool-news/plane-circled-over-merseyside-after-16294050 resulting in our flight home being severley delayed as the captain had run out of flight hours.

Had we been travelling with Ryanair we would have spent the night on wooden benches in the airport. However, Tui rustled up a fleet of coaches to take us to hotels, paid for the hotel and breakfast, and ferried us back to the airport the following day. All through this they kept us informed.
