Package holidays

Where do people book package holidays these days?

We have always booked via last minute .com to get a flight and hotel deal ( or booked each element seperately) but I have read some terrible reviews lately.

We are going for a 5 day break but a package including transfers is our preferred option but struggling to think where to look

Always book with TUI, never had an issue.

Appreciate we didn't try to go away over half term though.

Also done the last few with Jet 2 and they’ve been great. It could be with travelling a bit to avoid flying from the south at the moment anyway because (except Manchester) the northern airports seem to be having fewer problems.

The good thing about Jet2Holidays is they use their own planes. Whereas Others sometimes use different airlines. Lots of the recent complaints I have seen for example are Tui packages but using EasyJet flights.

I've used ba holidays several times, & they've been fine.
Depends where you're going, but it might be worth googling for dedicated country operators.
Wouldn't touch Tui again with a barge pole - even before the latest fiasco.

It's worth looking around for airport transfers, we've used holidaytaxis.com as they're often cheaper

I've only used Jet2 for years, usually from Leeds or East Midlands though Doncaster Sheffield would be nearer for me.
DS was looking for a city break recently and Jet2 cam out cheaper than booking directly, plus they include luggage and transfers

Doncaster would be my nearest but I don't think Jet2 have any plans to fly from there.

Another vote for Jet2! Definitely look at what they have available from Stansted. As well as great customer service (most of the time, no-one's perfect) their flight times are generally in the daytime, rather than 4 am or midnight arrival like Ryanair/Tui often are.

Also flexible holiday lengths so you don't have to go for the traditional 7/10/14 days, they often fly to popular holiday airports like Mallorca, Malaga, Barcelona, Malta, Alicante etc several times a week, so you can go for any number of days you like.

We're going to Menorca at the end of the month and we've booked a Jet2 package, partly because it was the cheapest, easiest way and we just wanted a low stress few days in the sun where we don't have to think about researching transfers etc, but also because they had good flights on the days we could go.

I suppose you normally fly from Heathrow/Gatwick? BA and Easyjet do package holidays from those airports, but Easyjet are probably on the 'naughty list' as far as worries about cancellations are concerned.

At least if you book a package and it's cancelled, they'll refund all the costs of flight, transfer and accommodation, whereas if you book it all separately, you'd have to hope its covered by your travel insurance, which would depend on the policy and there would be an excess to pay.

Also on the subject of Jet2, they haven't cancelled any flights. This is because they employ their own baggage handlers.
