Easyjet cancelled flight😢

Absolutely gutted. Due to fly to Lisbon this afternoon, probably minutes before getting on the plane, our flight was cancelled along with loads more due to I.T issues. We've planned this trip ages ago, so excited as first holiday with DSD abroad. We all had to go back to arrivals and collect our bags, just got home. No real assistance from Easyjet, no chance of changing flights by the looks. Absolutely devastated!

@YetAnotherNam that's how I red the policy wording - covered for adverse weather, breakdown, strikes, or ATC issues. So not covered for planes cancelled because the airline can't staff them. I asked them directly and they confirmed I was wrong in my interpretation but I have no doubt it would be a massive argument if I needed to claim.

In that case I would have to pursue the airline for consequential losses in the STC. Is that something you're considering? I feel like this will be an issue Martin Lewis / Simon Calder will be taking up in the near future.

read! Where is that bloody edit button

@Leftbutcameback , the airline are giving us €400 each in compensation

@hellswelshy @Hellsbe

Thank you for thinking of her.

Unlikely that they will get another chance to get together like this as some of her friends are already there so the villa will have to be paid for.

They had arrived and started using the villa as they didn’t know the others weren’t coming. There isn’t going to be an accommodation refund and we can’t expect the five friends who are there, to pay for a villa for 28.

What a mess. She is so disappointed. This was a school group reunion with extra uni friends of the school group added.

Why on earth would people travelling without children offer their seat to someone else just because they’re travelling with children??

I wouldn’t even if I was offered compensation!
Most people will have to be back for work or for other commitments.

Most holidays we would be picking up our car in the local airport at an appointed time, and have to pay by the hour for any time over that!

I absolutely would if travelling alone (which I often do) because I understand how horrendous it would be if that happened to my family on our holiday. (Literally about to do that exact same group and the logistics are not simple, especially as our home airport is 150 miles away).

I believe its called pay it forward.

Of course if you can't you can't. But if I could then I would.
