Anyone been through here recently? We're flying from here at lunchtime next week and I'm wondering what the queue situation has been like recently.

kolomo · 15/05/2022 21:57

I was there a couple of weeks ago. The queue was 1 hour 45 minutes just to get to security.

kolomo · 15/05/2022 21:59

Oh and we sat on the tarmac for hours because the dispatcher was nowhere to be found. Flight took off over two hours late. Never going back there.

AmandaHoldensLips · 16/05/2022 06:47

@ivykaty44 Flight was around 7am. We were queuing for over 2 hours until being called out of the queue - just for security. The TUI check-in line was another 2 hours prior to that.

MsMiaWallace · 16/05/2022 07:40

Do we think it'd be a good idea to book hotel at the airport & do bag check in night before?

thunderonly · 16/05/2022 08:01

@MsMiaWallace I am doing bag drop but don't live too far from the airport. Do you have far to come ?

hellcatspanglelalala · 16/05/2022 08:04

We went a couple of weeks ago and had no issues, but that was with fast track. The TUI queue was long but nobody waiting at the Ryanair desk, maybe it's tui that have the staff problems.

I think half the problem at the moment is that people have seen the news so are turning up 5 hours early - I did wonder if it's them being made to queue outside (if not it should be!)

ChiswickFlo · 09/05/2022 21:49

Oh I see...does that include all of us? (Party of 5)

It’s usually just one person to go with the assisted person, the others have to go through the normal channels

MsMiaWallace · 16/05/2022 08:29

We live Notts way so a bit of a trek.

thunderonly · 16/05/2022 09:17

We're planning to get there 3 hours before the flight. Which I think should be sufficient ! I don't want to get there any earlier shouldn't have too either

thunderonly · 16/05/2022 09:17

Might be worth it for you then !

MsMiaWallace · 16/05/2022 09:34

Just read someone waited 2.5 hours at security last week :(

thunderonly · 16/05/2022 09:48

@MsMiaWallace this is why I want to do the early bag drop. Just to get in that que for security as soon as possible !

ivykaty44 · 16/05/2022 11:55

AmandaHoldensLips Thanks 🙏

im thinking to check in the day before as live 30 minutes away and would be same time flight as yourselves

the aftercare apparently not as busy so checking in easier

NightOwl101 · 16/05/2022 19:39

Is there time limits on the bag drop? We fly at 3pm but finding conflicting advice about baggage drop times for different flights

CeeJay81 · 16/05/2022 19:50

With tui you have to have a flight before 12pm to do the day before. Not sure about others.

I've messed up badly. only got 3 fast passes instead of 4, went to print them off today. How did I not notice? Been so blooming busy. So will be at security 3 hours before flight, so 5am😪. Maybe I can pass them on to someone in the queue, although they have my name on them.

MsMiaWallace · 16/05/2022 19:51

Didn't think you can still buy fast passes?

CeeJay81 · 16/05/2022 19:53

You can't. I bought mine a month ago, didnt check my email properly though.

MsMiaWallace · 17/05/2022 10:37

Seriously considering booking a hotel at the airport. It's pricey but would be pay for piece of mind.

thunderonly · 18/05/2022 05:31

We did the bag drop with jet2 yesterday, in and out in 20 mins. Just in departures now. Security took around half an hour, very busy but moving swiftly. Downstairs the que to check in with TUI was mental, glad I wasn't waiting in it !!

Babaski · 18/05/2022 05:41

We flew out over the Easter hols. Waited approx 20 minutes to get through security. The queue looked massive but it was fast moving. Agree with @thunderonly that the TUI check in desks were chaotic, we were with Jet2 and it was very smooth thankfully.

SunnyShiner · 18/05/2022 10:05

Came through yesterday, was okay checking in but security was busy. We had fast track so walked past and we're done in 15 minutes, I'm guessing those without would have been at least an hour.

Once through highly recommend waking down to gates 1-20, it was totally empty, well worth the walk down to avoid the crowds and still shops and restaurants there. We went back to our gate just before boarding. Staff said it's never busy there.

OP posts:
SunnyShiner · 18/05/2022 10:12

That was at 11am

thunderonly · 18/05/2022 10:23

@SunnyShiner yes we flew from 1-20 today. I didn't even know it was there !! Has a boots, WH Smith's, Costa etc

Where did you park for bag drop and how much was it please? How long before your flight did you arrive and how long did it take to get through security?

thunderonly · 20/05/2022 07:03

@lwaveit we parked in car park 1 and it cost £6.50. We arrived 3 hours before the flight, took us about 30 mins to get through security the que is massive but it's constantly moving, they were also pulling people out for flights that were about to depart. It wasn't just one call, they did it frequently so lots of warning incase anyone was missed. Would highly recommend dropping the bags. Not sure who you're flying with but TUI only had two people on check in desks and the que was horrendous
