We are visiting Legoland and staying at Lalandia in a couple of weeks & Just wondering if anyone has any tips or recommendations?
In particular is the Gold wristband at Lalandia worth it?
Also any ways to get cheap tickets/discounts for Lego land park entry?

There is no station at Billund - you have to use a bus (and then a train for some destinations) to get to anywhere else.

A suggestion for a day out:

Take the bus to Vejle and visit the Økolariet ecology centre (2 minutes from the bus station). 90 minutes should be enough to see and try all of the interactive exhibits which are great for kids. There are English explanation signs everywhere. www.okolariet.dk/en

From Vejle take a bus (easiest option) or train to Kolding and visit the castle - Koldinghus - which is in the centre of the town. If you need some retail therapy visit Kolding Storcenter shopping mall (a bus/taxi ride from the town centre) and see what Danes typically wear/eat/use in their homes.

Bus back to Billund (possibly via Vejle).

All transport options are available in English (also useful if you decide to visit Odense or Aarhus. Fanø is too far for a day trip by public transport, although Esbjerg is in reach). >>

Thanks, didn’t realise there wasn’ta station! Will probably get the bus to Vejle then and depending on how that goes head on to Kolding or Odense from there. Shopping sounds good, we visited Copenhagen years ago and came back with a load of stuff from Sostrene Grenes (or whatever it’s called).

Søstrene Grene have a shop in Kolding Storcentre (and one in Vejle). There are also cafes, coffee shops and of course places to buy hot-dogs in the Storcenter.

There's a Søstrene Grene in Nottingham

Thanks, so we’ve planned a day trip to Aarhus by bus+train, to see the big art gallery there, plus we like visiting cities. May do a 1/2 day in Vejle/Kolding too at some point. Thanks for the info.

Not sure is reachable by public transport from Billund!

@jetadore As you're going to Aarhus, be sure to visit the museum at Moesgaard: www.moesgaardmuseum.dk/en/

Frazzled2207 · 15/10/2022 09:44

Following for next year!

BronnauMawrion · 15/10/2022 10:02

We went last summer and are going back again this year.
We're going for two days at the Lego House - considering getting a season pass for best value.
Lalandia gold wristbands are totally worth the money.
Restaurants are expensive in Lalandia, but better quality than trip advisor would lead you to believe!

NiqueNique · 15/10/2022 10:15

Hahaha @jetadore it was me who waxed lyrical about the hotdogs (slight namechange)! You wouldn’t believe it but I’ve worried about this on and off thinking oh no I hope the hotdogs aren’t an utter disappointment! Hope the children liked them...

I’m glad to hear you liked Legoland and are going back. Smile

jetadore · 15/10/2022 10:31

@NiqueNique haha, it had also occasionally crossed my mind that I should come back and update the thread, sorry it took so long! The hotdog situation was a bit hit and Miss, the kiosk at the airport was closed when we arrived, we tried some from the supermarket at Lalandia that weren’t anything to write home about, and then finally got something approaching the real thing at legoland, which were pretty decent for theme park food. I’m determined to get the authentic experience when we visit Aarhus this time round!

Thanks, will definitely try to if the weather is kind!

@jetadore

Moesgaard Museum is indoors, so ideal for a rainy day.

The Old Town Museum is the outdoor one which you need to visit too, but best on a dry day.

Ah, ok thanks, now spoilt for choice between the moesgaard, the old town, and Aros!

The rainbow panorama at the top of ARoS in Aarhus is absolutely stunning!

Another idea for a day trip from Billund for anyone planning a trip in those parts is the national museum at Jelling, 'home of the viking kings' - it's well worth a visit.

jetadore · 04/11/2022 22:17

To update, trip was great, Aarhus was fun and managed to hit hotdog stand paydirt. Went to Aros gallery in the end which everyone really enjoyed.

Only downside was everything felt expensive, I guess prices have gone up over there too, combined with Kwasi trashing the pound so a worse exchange rate, it was definitely noticeable especially compared to when we went earlier in the year.

But overall good and Legoland with all the hallowe’en decs was great too.

The Halloween-themed weekend at Legoland is great fun - they really use their imagination to transform the park and displays into something a bit spookier.

For anyone thinking about going to Billund next year, Ryanair are opening a new route from Birmingham to Billund from next summer.

Caljoa · 24/03/2023 03:04

Hi I'm going to lalandia during the Easter holidays. Schools in Denmark will be off too. Is it is busy as centre parks and do I need to pre book all the activities? Don't want to turn up to no availability.

I'd appreciate any tips for going at this time e.g. quietest day to visit legoland/lego House.

Thanks

Havanananana · 24/03/2023 09:17

Legoland Billund and the Lego House don't get anywhere near as busy as Legoland in the UK - even when it's "busy" everything is still accessible and queues are short. Be aware that Thursday 6th April is also a holiday in Denmark.

Don't underestimate the time you can spend in the Lego House - it is easy to spend a whole day there if you and the children are into Lego.

I can't comment on Lalandia.

Favouritefruits · 24/03/2023 09:49

@Caljoa I’m going in August to Lalandia can you come back to the thread and give me all your hints and tips when you get back please? I wasn’t sure about the activity booking but I have bought the gold wristband already which gives you free access to nearly all activities.

BronnauMawrion · 17/05/2023 18:53

Lalandia gold wrist band is the best purchase you will make!
We are going back again this year, for a longer stay, because we enjoyed it so much last August.

TrustPenguins · 31/03/2024 18:32

Did anyone go to lalandia last August? If do, how was it?

Wonderful. Lovely weather. Busy but not crazy (very end of August).

CautiousOptimist · 31/03/2024 18:54

Our Lego pilgrimage to Billund is still one of our favourite family holidays, so jealous! We went 5 years ago and our kids still talk about it.

Don't miss Lego House, it's brilliant. 1 or 2 days there and definitely have a meal in the restaurant there, it's fun.

Lalandia was fun but quite cold! The Danes are much hardier than us I think.

We went at Easter and the queues at Legoland were practically non existent, don't know if we just got lucky but it was a pleasant change from Windsor!

Favouritefruits · 31/03/2024 19:50

@TrustPenguins freezing and raining! I’m glad I took a coat and hoodies! We were freezing! 13degrees but a really strong wind. We went 1-8 August
